I submitted an FOI request to the GMC asking them about the tax they pay. Turns out, the GMC do not pay tax. They class doctors' fees as charity. They take £500/yr from doctors, pay zero tax on it, and use it to give their staff £250k salaries and private healthcare.

Would be interesting to know how close junior doctors come to this when you factor in unpaid overtime and having to pay for all our own training/courses/exams/memberships as discussed from 56 secs in @TheBMA @Doctors_Vote #JuniorDoctorsStrike
'Don't assume if you're on minimum wage working for a big firm that you're being paid the right amount.' @MartinSLewis Up to half a million people on minimum wage could be getting less pay than they should. Martin explains what you are entitled to on minimum wage.

"35% sounds like a lot but they've had a 26% pay cut since 2009 - this is a pay restoration, not a pay rise" @MarinaPurkiss sets out why she supports junior doctors going on strike. #JeremyVine

Please don’t be sidetracked by the defamation you read in the news. Remember, doctors and nurses are seen as trustworthy for good reason. Please believe what we’re saying. On the other hand, let’s look at journalists and politicians #JuniorDoctorsStrike #BMADoctorsVoteYes

DOHNS passed! Too many exam delays and then an unexpected but great specialty switch meaning I had more to do. Finally I’ve completed my necessary exams and excited to start my Head and Neck Fellowship at @GSTTnhs In August #DOHNS #MRCS @RCSnews

I’ve heard that once the junior doctors know their sickness will be put on their permanent record, it makes them feel much better !! 🏥💉☀️

Replying to @naveedgh
Or perhaps it forces them to go into work ill, which is bad for patient care / doctor wellbeing and safety, and is generally unethical.

This is extremely significant from the GMC National Training Survey. This proportion is also likely to only increase as demand increases and trainees are stretched further. The question now is, what do we do to fix it? Yoga and resilience training clearly haven’t helped…

This is what NHS staff woke up to this morning. A rally talking about hanging doctors and nurses. This has caused considerable distress amongst NHS staff. If you’re still behind NHS staff please tweet with the hashtag #gotyourbackNHS. Let’s show staff they are appreciated 🙏🏻

The last 3 days in the ICU have been tough. Watching people suffer and die from a (mostly) preventable illness is so hard. If you would choose to go to the hospital and trust us to give you care when you are sick, please trust us when you are well and get your vaccine.
