If anyone wants to do digging on what this whole bio lab thing is, all one needs to do is research the Soviet Union's biological weapons program under the "Anti-Plague" Network how after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States along with like everyone including Putin wanted to ensure that none of this weaponized material could leak go unaccounted for and fall into the hands of non-state actors and so we funded these sites with Russian cooperation to ensure disposal and oversight.

Russian-made Geranium drones are a family of long-range loitering munitions, most commonly referring to the Geran-2, which is a version of Iran's Shahed-136.
The Geran-2 has a range of roughly 1,500 to 2,000 kilometers, carries a 30- to 50-kg high-explosive warhead, and is cheaper to produce than cruise missiles. One distinctive signature Ukrainians have learned to recognize is its sound: the drones are often described as lawn mowers in the sky.
Rybar noted the potential strike radius of the Geran-2 if such systems were positioned in Cuba, concluding that under this scenario that major oil and gas refineries, key military bases, data centers, and even Washington, DC would fall within the drone's strike envelope, representing a highly destabilizing escalation risk.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a warning to law enforcement agencies in California stating that they have recent intelligence that indicates “Iran allegedly aspired to conduct a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United States, specifically against unspecified targets in California, in the event that the U.S. conducted strikes against Iran,” according to reporting from ABC News.

🦔 Reports suggest Windows 12 will launch later this year as a modular, AI-focused OS. Microsoft's Copilot will be a core part of the system rather than optional. Some features may be locked behind a subscription model for "advanced AI services." The OS will also require a dedicated NPU (neural processing unit), which would lock out millions of PC owners whose hardware doesn't have one. Windows 10 support ends around the same time.
My Take
This is enshittification taken to its logical conclusion. An operating system you've been using for decades is now going to require a subscription for features, mandatory AI integration, and new hardware just to keep using it. Microsoft is betting that most people won't switch because switching is hard and they've spent years building dependencies on Windows.
I wrote about this cycle a few weeks ago. A product starts out serving users, then starts extracting value from them once they're locked in. Microsoft has 1.4 billion Windows users. They're not worried about losing a few million to Linux because most people won't bother. The NPU requirement is particularly frustrating because it forces hardware upgrades for AI features a lot of people don't want in the first place. You're buying a new computer so Microsoft can run Copilot on it. Linux is better than it's ever been and switching is more viable than most people think, but Microsoft is counting on inertia winning and historically that bet has paid off.
