Those who went max long because “the internet is the future” were right, but still lost 50% over the next 2 years.
To make sure every last bull stayed in (and then got wiped out), we had 3 separate 20% bear market rallies...
Only after everyone was fully shaken out did we bottom in 2002.
It then took ~14 years just to break even on a nominal basis...
And by that point, most developed PTSD and were too scarred to participate in the next bull run.
Lesson: Don't participate in historically overvalued markets, especially not when that overvaluation coincides with the biggest supply crisis in human history

Ukrainian MP Anna Skorokhod has confirmed that all four men hospitalized after being held at Azov facility in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, just outside Kyiv — the same building that recently became the scene of a protest — were beaten there.
And the details are as ugly as they come.
Andriy Kuleshov was allegedly held there for 37 days, despite having undergone major surgery and living with an abdominal stoma. He was beaten repeatedly. His family was allegedly pressured to pay a bribe.
Oleksandr Pavliuchenko and Ivan Yareshko also reported being beaten — accounts that MP Skorokhod says she has confirmed.
Oleksandr Perminov was allegedly beaten for going AWOL — and, apparently, for setting a bad example when several other soldiers followed suit.
So the allegations are looking increasingly grim: Petropavlivska Borshchahivka may indeed have served as a torture site — a place where disobedient soldiers were punished, brutalized, and subjected to a little "re-education," Azov-style.
Quite the disciplinary methods for such an "elite" military formation, wouldn't you say?
Now, the floor belongs to the tireless defenders of the untouchable "elite" Azov.

🚨Oracle's AI deals are falling apart one by one.
Microsoft is now winding down its deal to rent AI computing power from Oracle.
This comes just two days after Oracle canceled a $7 billion deal to lease 100,000 AI chips to Tencent, after pressure from the Trump administration.
And in the same week, Oracle had to raise $20 billion to keep funding its AI buildout.
It sold $10 billion of new shares at an 11% discount, and $10 billion of bonds paying up to 8.65% interest.
That used up its entire planned funding limit through 2030. In less than a week.
The cost to insure Oracle's debt against default hit a record 3.25% a year last month.
$ORCL has crashed -26% in just last 7 trading days, and is now down 68% from its all time high.
Oracle borrowed billions to build data centers for AI. Now its biggest deals are falling apart, but the debt is still there.

The SBU is responding to the anti-conscription riots in Kiev, and earlier in Lviv, with something approaching a counterinsurgency operation: about 130 people have been identified and forced to apologize on video, and the women who tried to rescue tortured men and deserters held for ransom in an illegal Azov prison have been arrested without bail.
Meanwhile, the anti-corruption bodies are going after top SBU officials for involvement in a large-scale drug cartel and scam call-center business. When NABU detectives came to search an SBU general, he threatened them with a firearm.
Meanwhile, the SBU is searching a military intelligence (HUR) officer in the investigation into the high-profile attempted assassination of a Ukrainian businessman in Monaco.
For over a decade, the Western public sphere, including a big part of specialized academia, presented post-Euromaidan Ukraine as nation-building, democratizing, and progressively reforming and strengthening the state and civil society on the path to European “civilization.”
The reality after this decade looks more like Latin America in the 1970s: states deeply penetrated by the mafia, a comprador bourgeoisie, fascist paramilitaries, and extreme anticommunism, only without any communist guerrillas.
In my new article “The Broken Mirror of the World in Crisis,” just out in the brand-new journal The Ukrainian Forum, I offer a theoretical and longue-durée perspective on the disintegration of Ukraine’s state and society, which both reflects and advances the crisis of the order on which a big part of the Ukrainian elites fatally staked the nation’s future. I discuss the role of political capitalism, post-Soviet class conflict, and the deficient Maidan revolutions, and how all of these lead, in particular, to a dramatically weaker Ukrainian capacity for mobilization (in contrast to Russia), which underlies the escalating domestic mess and may define the outcome of the war.
