Bermuda Estates is just off a busy section of U.S. Route 1 in Chester. A single road runs through the middle of the park, and about 50 homes are arranged on either side of it. Latino families live in the majority of them. vpm.org/news/2023-09-14/berm…

“These folks organized on their own & have…shown a lot of solidarity in the face of this outside, faceless company coming in & trying to wring all this money out of this park & folks who really don't have it.” By our fellow @__MarkRobinson & @KeyrisNews: vpm.org/news/2023-09-14/six-…

Working with @KeyrisNews and @duylinhtu on this story through my fellowship with @econhardship was an absolute privilege. Watch our feature on how Latino residents are fighting back against an investment firm that bought their mobile home park and tried to hike rents 40%.
Gabino Felipe might soon be priced out of the place he has called home for the past six years, as a nationwide trend threatens one of Virginia’s most affordable remaining sources of housing. vpm.org/news/2023-09-14/six-…

This project wouldn't have happened without the support of @econhardship and the expertise, grace and persistence of producer @WordsByWillis and videographer @duylinhtu. Working with them was a privilege.

"What began as a temporary motel stay after an eviction has stretched for years, prolonged, in part, by the pandemic and a major setback. Gillespie quit her job as a CNA after her daughter was diagnosed with stage 3 B-cell lymphoma cancer in Jan. 2021." vpm.org/news/articles/36682/…
