I ran an experiment: Spent $20k on Facebook ads and $20k on cold email. Here's what happened:

Intern: Are auto shops open on Saturdays? Me: A lot are Intern: Can I call them then? Me: I love you -- Staffed up a team of 4 (paid) interns this week, off to a really good start. 2 guys made 50+ dials in the first day, 6 qualified intros on 259 dials across the group. We're going to push to 10+, know there will be some churn, but we should land with a group of killers. It's been a ton of work (h/t @_agarner) standing up the program, but feeling encouraged by it. In a world where so much can be automated, it feels like doing hard things, like managing humans, can create a real edge.

my dad never invested a $$ in the market, couple years ago for his bday I made him a Schwab account , put some cash in it. Then logged into his bank and put a recurring deposit on (he found out a couple weeks later) Absolute beauty watching this thing grow over time. Until days like today when he calls and asks where all his money went 😂

We called an auto shop yday - "Is this real? You guys are calling everyone. I saw a post in two different FB groups yday talking about you guys." We're trying to create an echo chamber in tight geos around our clients' buy-boxes - it's working. If you're at all interested in selling, and we will likely touch you on 2-4 channels, 3-8 times over 2-6 months, and I bet you get curious at some point.

In my 20’s, I used to work on Wall Street. People my age now (45) said they were working 70, 80, 90 hours a week for their families…but all their families actually wanted was their presence. They didn’t understand why their families resented how much they worked when they lived in a nice house, and their kids went to private schools. It was just the world we all lived in. We knew nothing else. I decided early in my startup journey that wasn’t going to be me. My co-founders and I have always had a policy of quitting at 5 or 5:30. By that, I mean: > Shut off my laptop > No more work talk > Go home to my family Frequently I’m out even earlier - 3-5, depending on whether I want to do something with the kids. I rarely travel for work and don’t entertain for work. My family life gives me energy for my work. My work gives me energy for my family life. I'm trying to stay not burnt out and excited about this for several decades. Can every founder choose this? Maybe not everybody, but more people have the choice than realize they do. There is great reward that comes from designing a business around the life you want.

Was lucky enough to meet Adam a couple of times while he was building Moltsets. I was nervous to talk to him because of how revered is he in the space. He was incredibly thoughtful & curious - I walked away from our calls inspired to be a better entrepreneur. RIP to a legend
We lost one of the greats of the bootstrapped software world. Adam Robinson was so inspiring to follow in his journey to build Retention, RB2B, and MoltSets in public. There aren't many people who bootstrap a company to $10M+ like he did, let alone to do it in public. Last time we were together in Miami he teased me that my Web App Challenge was so inspirational to him, but that he wished I posted more. So he'd ask himself, "What do I wish Nathan shared?" Then write that. I loved his public posts, lessons learned, and the way he ran the podcast. He was also so generous with his data and legal knowledge as we launched Subscriber Signals at Kit. Adam, thank you for the generosity in every interaction. You inspired me and thousands of other founders. You'll be dearly missed. Rest in peace.

What does the real end-user cost of AI trend to over the next few years? I just got mad that I ran through a $30 subscription in 2 hours, but reflecting on it, it is writing code that I could never have written myself, and is actually valuable to the company. Problem is if costs increase 10x, my experimentation usage drops drastically and I can only work on things with a high degree of + ROI. There would be positives in that I would treat it more like a high level employee. More planning, scoping, etc before just tokenmaxxing

The cost of serving Grok Bot was unsustainably high relative to revenue

Grokbot is legit. Seems smart, I like not having to think too much about which model is running. Also seems like it runs through usage way faster than Claude Code? Ran through the weekly limit on the $30 plan in 2 hours.

Eric definitely didn't give up lead-gen, but I do think it is an interesting sign-of-the-times for pure cold email agencies.
To everyone saying Eric "gave up" on lead gen for going back to Clay: He is going to make more money than 99% of you there, while his team gets more upside in the incredible agency he built. If you saw what I saw, you'd feel foolish for saying that.

I love Daniel and he’s a fellow runner but asking for money online (as a seemingly well off person) makes me cringe. I know I’m probably alone in this take!
If 75,000 of you send me $1 on @XMoney I can go buy a Tesla Cybertruck and never get stuck in the Charleston floods ever again

> brute force a few sales to get the ball rolling > “build the plane while flying” on ops. Document the playbook. > use margin to invest in highest probability lead-gen ( diff for every market) > sell your ass off > use margin to replace yourself from ops > become capital allocator and people manager
