Ok #WASHTwitter, the main reason I'm back- pre-print now available for our article on Decolonizing WASH Research.
We asked LMIC-based/-origin researchers about experiences & interviewed donors about actions they took that worked (or didn't).

New paper in @WaterRes_J
"Using water-adjusted person years (WAPYs) to quantify the value of being water secure for an individual's quality of life"

Who is doing interesting work in WASH around behavior change and/or market systems these days?
(Entrepreneurs, NGOs, Multinationals, Multilaterals, Researchers, etc.)
Making sure to include voices outside "my circle" in upcoming presentation opportunities.

Adam Questad: Water pumping can account for more than 50% of energy use at rural healthcare facilities. Households are also more willing to pay for electricity than water. Is it time to ensure the rural WASH discussion includes energy? #UNCWaterandHealth #WASHTwitter
Matt: You don’t have to stand up Kelly, there are plenty of chairs!
Kelly: I’m trying not to fall asleep!
(Crowd erupts in laughter)
That’s the kind of spicy banter you get at an implementation science session at #UNCWaterandHealth #WASHTwitter
Sorry, I just won @elshaylor.
Which of these 14 items are most important to report for learning more from our intervention studies? Beginning a process of consultation and guideline development. #UNCWaterandHealth #WASHTwitter @MatthewCFreeman, Jonny Crocker, and @EmilyOgutu2
One part of the two previous years’ online #UNCwaterandhealth I miss- you could see who all was registered and dm them. Made it easier to reach out to those beyond the “usual suspects” and for others to reach out to you beforehand.
Second announcement for #WASHTwitter:
World Vision's 2022-2026 WASH Research & Learning Agenda now out!
It shows where we've been, our priorities, & where we're already investing and will invest in the future.
This is operational, not aspirational.
wvus.link/WASH-Research-Lear…
We will report on progress annually & revisit priorities every two years including input beyond just existing partners.
We look forward to engaging with:
-> Funders looking to leverage our implementation for learning
-> Implementers and Researchers with aligned interests
Very happy to discuss at #UNCWaterandHealth next week (We'll even have a few... I think you call them... "hard copies?" Am I saying that right? But just a few...) or otherwise with any and all in coming weeks and months!

New from @EmilyOgutu2 on food hygiene behavior in Kenya:
Knowledge is part of the issue, but resources and enabling environment also key.
Theory-based formative research is essential for lesser-studied behaviors or those significantly affected by context.
