woah, airtable is arguably still one of the best platforms to create multiplayer AI. agents/harnesses reading and writing with defensible logs, real workflows, a backend you can actually read.
it supercharged my org and cut a ton of excess fragmented saas spend along the way.
feels like a missed opportunity though. it's a platform that gets sold and onboarded like a simple product. you basically have to learn it on your own time to get real value out of it (most teams won't do that). every team i talk to uses it as a spreadsheet then abandons it.
and customer-facing teams never seemed to fully understand their own product. only a few technical folks there did. tutorials seem to stop at surface level, and every team i tried to bring in eventually gave up out of frustration.
omni feature could've been the thing that made it a proper AI builder like replit/lovable. native, powerful human-readable backend. it shipped half assed and never got better.
also can't be selling to enterprises when performance throttles nowhere near the 500k record limit.
hopeful @bendingspoons focuses on enhancing data controls and last mile features instead of putting it in maintenance mode.
..or hyperagent ships a killer base lol.
really impressed with @hyperagentapp as my openclaw alternative. my mac mini finally gets to rest lol.
