Excellent discussion on the ethical and practical challenges when reducing health inequalities with @MichaelMarmot, @julianhuppert, @SwaranPSingh and @kellybeaver "until we see this as everyone's problem, we'll continue offering fragmented solutions" #INSIGHT2021
The worlds biggest study of post acute #COVID19 symptoms in children is out as a pre-print - the CLoCK study! Fortunately results are very reassuring regarding symptom frequency and impact Some important lessons, let's take a look 🧵 1/ bbc.co.uk/news/health-584105…

Are we in for an "interesting" Winter? #COVID19 #RSV
If you were wondering about the situation in hospitals in England for children with #COVID19 or RSV, it looks like this 👇 gov.uk/government/statistics…
Helpful data on short- and medium-term risks associate to #COVID19 infection and #vaccination
Look at the risk of adverse events following vaccination (blue) versus #COVID19 infection (gold). Myocarditis, pericarditis, blood clots, intracranial bleeding, etc are all substantially more common following infection versus vaccination. From @NEJM: bit.ly/3myIpRJ
#Disability is a global public health issue. People w/ disabilities, especially in lower-income countries have less access to health care & assistive technology. Find out how this partnership between WHO & @Paralympics helps address the issue 👉bit.ly/3izbvNa

Easy to read summary of how #COVID19 affects children, including long-lasting symptoms. Very useful read when considering vaccination in young people. #COVIDVaccination #LongCovidKids #schoolreopening #VaccinateYoungPeople theconversation.com/covid-lo… via @ConversationUK
Vaccines should not be the preserve of rich countries bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n204… Interesting read which touches on "vaccine apartheid" and how inequalities in the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines are causing preventable suffering and prolonging the pandemic.
We've developed an interactive dashboard to show local GP inequalities. Local systems can now see their own inequalities phpc.cam.ac.uk/pcu/research/… @BolaOwolabi8 @RCGPHI @rcgp

Very informative thread on how the spread of a virus may not always be straightforward, the role of superspreaders and some thoughts on how to combat this. Will be interesting to see how this is observed with the new test and trace schemes. #TestandTrace
Replying to @andrewleedr
We can't identify superspreaders so we need to continue to maintain physical distancing & hygiene measures. Pre-covid I told my students there was little evidence for #facemask use. Been convinced by @trishgreenhalgh & will advise otherwise now based on precautionary principle.
Thank you @GASOC_2015 and @Noel25Dec for your work in putting together such a great conference. Incredible opportunity to hear about the impacts of #COVIDー19 on surgical practice across the world and how we can learn from each other. #frontlineglobalsurgery #globalsurgery

In the Journal of Critical Care, @ma_xiya and I performed the first mapping of the global availability of ICU beds. While this is only one piece of the puzzle, it provides some insight in the ability to cope with critically-ill #COVID19, now & in future. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
