A nauseating review: Israel has killed 30,000 Gazans, at least 12,000 of whom are children, some targeted by snipers, others dying of enforced starvation, as Israel denies humanitarian aid (which 68% of Israelis support: bbc.com/news/world-middle-ea…), all funded by the US...
At a pub event I once challenged Walzer about his Marty Peretz friendship by reading some choice MP lines. Walzer’s answer: if you scour anyone’s footnotes you’re bound to find some terrible stuff. Telling on himself

Me trying not to take this bait
These two passages depict the same subject matter in an identical style.
One is from Fifty Shades of Grey. The other is from Sally Rooney’s Normal People.
I bet you can't even tell which is which.
If we have the sensibility to dismiss one as a trashy romance novel, then why do we continue to celebrate the other as serious literature?

15-year anniversary of this murder of a 16-year-old kid, a US citizen fwiw, who "should have had a more responsible father"
And his spox Robert Gibbs said Abdulrahman should have picked a better father. Which always strikes me as the perfect distillation of US policy, both foreign and domestic

Per the Middle East Studies Association, since October 7, 76 North American academics have been fired for speaking out against the genocide in Palestine.
Two-thirds of those people are non-white.
16.5% are Jewish.
also in this report: Malaysians polled are opposed to refugees having general right to work (78%), but less opposed (68%) for refugees "to work in sectors where Malaysians are not keen on employment” (p 69). Seems a fear of refugees becoming competitors for jobs.

I told my wife this Milan Kundera quote about vertigo and she said no, it’s actually due to an inner ear imbalance. And that’s why an MD and a PhD are very different kind of doctors…
Me: OBL was a political actor not simply a nihilistic fanatic who “hates freedom” as saying so obviates our analysis of USA’s own political choices.
This dummy: No! He was acting tactically to compel US withdrawal so he could establish a political project.
Me: Thanks?
Don’t take your views of 9/11 from Tik Tok or comedians.
Al Qaida was so upset with Israel that they never attempted to attack Israel and were upset with U.S. troops in SA to the extent they prevented them from establishing an ISIS-like caliphate.
They attacked the US (the “far enemy”) in order to get the U.S. to retreat from the ME so they could overthrow the govts there to establish a cruel Islamic theocracy.
This guy thinks he is smart and clever by tweeting this but he is showing he is much more uneducated than the people he is trying to mock.
“I don't think OBL sent those planes to attack us because he hated our freedom. I think he did it because of our support for Israel, our ties with the Saudi family and our military bases in KSA. You know why I think that? Because that's what he fucking said!”

Note how bad writing helps racism - a “component”, no matter how “emotional”cannot “see.” But saying so allows the writer to avoid identifying the specific ppl making the racist association. Instead it’s just ambient.
