quite a weird hill to die on. A woman says pregnancy ‘felt like a death sentence’ to her and people are arguing that it’s not the same as a death sentence.
did you take any english/literature courses in school? were you not taught figures of speech or literary devices?

As a woman I'll take it over what you think. Good thing you're not the only person who has read or managed pregnancies.
This is a lazy argument. Have you been on death row to know what a death sentence feels like ??
A death sentence means the person is expected to die unless something happens. Nobody starts pregnancy expecting to die, so what do you mean “it’s like a death sentence” ?
Statistically, the number of normal pregnancy and deliveries far outnumber the number of deaths by a very very wide margin. How is that a death sentence ??
I don’t need to be pregnant to understand how pregnancy affects women. I’ve worked with pregnant women and a lot of them certainly don’t feel like it’s a death sentence.
This thing is common sense and English language.

I’m not even trying to approve or disapprove of the death sentence, but I find it interesting how men have taken it upon themselves to dismiss what it means in this context

I'm always very petrified whenever someone I know gets pregnant because I know how easily things can go haywire.
My babe did all that was asked of her. All. Everything she was asked to do. And she still died with her child. She was her mother's only child.
I hate it so much when I'm asked not to bring in "emotions" into obviously emotional conversations. I hate it.
It's wickedness especially for the medical personnels who are supposed to know better.

All a woman knows when she's pregnant is that it'll be atleast 9 months.
She's not unwell but she doesn't feel 100%.
She doesn't know what the next day will bring. She doesn't know what delivery will bring. Post partum is still there.

If a man had come here to say he was with his wife and felt she was dying while pregnant there'd be more empathy.
Some of you need to sit with your biases or better still stop talking about other people's pregnancies.
This pregnancy discourse is soo triggering.
A friend lost his wife just 2 years back as a result of child birth. I just lost my babe less than 6 months ago. My sister almost lost her life. My mother slumped after having me.
