Was talking to a friend last night who made a comment about how there doesn’t seem to be many good people in the world, and I had to reject that idea. My position was that evil likes attention. It’s greedy and egotistical. It likes hierarchy and domination.

But goodness, which is not about a static idea of good or whatever but the practice, is often small because it lacks that greed. Good people tend to take care of their small corner of the world, and there’s no reward or attention for that practice on a day to day level.

I think we tend to generalize from bad experiences rather than good ones. And evil tends to be more front and center than good, and we pay more attention to it than what is often invisible or at least small. On balance, far more people have helped me than harmed me in this world.
