Tweets about Palestine no longer go viral. The genocide is no longer trending. Back to business as usual. The normalization of our people’s slaughter is sweeping across the West, whose leaders provide the nails being driven into the hearts of our children.

The fetishization of the vote in a managed democracy like the US is bad. If you want real change, yes; you should vote. But it’s nowhere near the top of the list of what you should be doing. (If you truly care)💫

82,000 children in the UK are looked after by their local authority. In today's podcast, @thatdunleavy is talking to @RebekahPierre92 about the new anthology she edited, #FreeLoavesOnFridays, and what life is like for those children growing up in care. bit.ly/3VZrRm2

Clean Up The Internet's founder @Kinsellas sets out how tackling harm from fake and anonymous social media accounts would contribute to several of the new Labour Government priority "missions" - and why failing to could create obstacles to delivery.

This is so important, but a Stuart Hall reading of representation and essentialism brings nuance to the representation = outcomes equation. Representation matters, but its the actual policies, rather than the personalities, that will ultimately make that representation material.

For elites, there is a symbolic market for downplaying privilege. But it’s pernicious, perpetuating the myth of meritocracy + obscuring very real divides in power and influence. Nice piece by @emmavj drawing on a key argument in our new book Born to Rule in @FT @aaronsreeves

Keir Starmer's Cabinet is the most state-educated in history. 87 per cent of Brits went to a state school but this is so rarely reflected in our politics. As someone who went to a comp but is often the only person not privately educated in certain rooms...I'd say this matters.

The book 'Doughnut Economics' opens with the story of Yuan Yang who, as a young economics student back in 2008, was challenging the outdated theory she was being taught. Last night she was elected as the first-ever MP for Earley & Woodley. Huge congratulations @YuanfenYang !

Our Frank @frankcottrell_b is furious, and rightly so. In our new episode you can hear him spell out exactly why his tenure as children's laureate is going to be not just a celebration of children's writing, but a transformation of the access people have to it, so buckle up.

“The MA Black British Literature should not be treated as a second-class citizen,”. These redundancies on the Black British Literature MA are nothing short of vandalism; and it guts Goldsmiths of everything that made it a distinctive space of learning. theguardian.com/education/ar…
