A young man came for an interview yesterday. He was so excited about the opportunity that I promised him the job and asked him to report at 8 AM today. At 8:45, he was nowhere to be seen. HR called him, and his response was, "I accepted the job, not ownership of my entire morning." I immediately thought we'd made a terrible hiring decision....

Yesterday, a young guy came in for a job interview. He was so eager and desperate to get the job that I told him to come in the next day and start work at 12 noon. By 1 p.m., he still hadn't shown up. One of my staff members politely WhatsApped him, asking, "Where are you now? It's already 1 p.m." They even greeted him respectfully first. His reply was:
