btw, just wasted an hour of my time trying to explain to my SOC2 auditor that a PR I merged a couple weeks ago had no material impact on the business's service commitment or system description. They're combing through PRs now! Good luck to those who build all the things in-house!
TIL you can press Win+Shift+- for an em dash, and Win+- for an en dash. I've been pressing Win+. and pulling up and mousing through the symbol dialog for years. I swear this has to be a new addition?! I feel livid, yet elated.
I don't really know why exactly I was compelled to write it, but I just wrapped up a >20k word essay. Started out small but ended up snowballing. Hyperfocus is weird, man.
I would pay @github if they could run an LLM against all these alerts and auto-dismiss, because 99% are noise (which in of itself is dangerous because it trains people to dismiss by default, just like an ad or popup).

Saw a fun Wordle-like game posted to HN, figured I'd post mine too. Came back from getting coffee to already seeing it on the front page! analog.watch
I don't know if it's just happen chance at this point since it's so early, but I started funneling new accounts through the new Portal app, and it seems to have caused a big drop in gmail registration spam (e.g. retards looking for warez), and an uptick in actual businesses registering.
Maybe it's the heading on the registration page here making the use case clearer to the bad traffic? A welcome change, either way!
Blog post coming soon, but the Portal beta has official begun! Try it out today: beta.portal.keygen.sh
I think the most high-leverage thing I ever did for Keygen was make it fair source. I think it was the catalyst that made it go from one of the many options for licensing to *the* option for licensing. It was also one of the hardest things emotionally I ever did for Keygen.
Over a year in the making! Finally to the finish line. If you're a Keygen user, go try it out! It's also open source if you want to self-host, or just poke around: github.com/keygen-sh/keygen-…

I'm convinced most startups customer numbers are inflated because their dunning flows never cancel subscriptions, so users continue to be counted as subscribers even though they haven't paid in months, if ever. Might look fancy on a chart, but shame on any investor that's fooled.
