Aspiring filmmakers need to see the process of making your film. Document the process via BTS footage, a TikTok reel, a thread on X (or threads).
It could be shot listing, pre production meetings, location walk throughs, director tips, producer tips, ANY PART of the process.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you do not need $50,000 to make a short film.
This is why we created @_microbudgetpod. Filmmaking deserves a space for pure fun and joy, outside of a career ambition.

We were talking about dialogue earlier, and it is such an important topic. There's nothing worse (for me) than exposition dumps, on-the-nose dialogue or just talking heads ... or when all characters sound the same.
How do you test your dialogue? #scriptchat
The freeing thing about being an independent filmmaker as a hobby is that none of your projects are tasked with a performance or sales metric.
You can create on your terms.
You can create as quickly or as slowly as you want to.
You are free.

There’s always going to be demand/desire for human-made art.
The stop-motion animation work behind LAIKA’s WILDWOOD (2026) is absolutely insane.
136 handcrafted sets, over 200 practical puppets and 49 animators working across 231 weeks, with some shots producing just 1–4 seconds of animation per week.

SCREENWRITING 101:
A flashback shouldn't exist simply to tell us what happened.
It should help us understand why the character behaves the way they do now.🎬
Take the helicopter and 16 locations out of your script and write something you can film over a weekend in your own apartment.
