Dear #Mainland #Indians, Till yesterday, Manipur was the Capital of Shillong to you guys. Nagaland was an exotic country where weird food was consumed. Imphal was never heard of, nor was Itanagar or Kohima. Fast forward today, you all have become authoritative voice on NE India, particularly on the issue of #dam over #Siang river. Isn't this a tad bit funny? First, atleast learn where the Siang river is. Lemme help. It is in Arunachal Pradesh. And, for god's sake, dont 'assume' that Arunachal Pradesh is some tiny state. Arunachal is almost twice the size of Haryana, or much larger than Punjab, Uttarakhand or Himachal Pradesh. It is a very diverse state. Land & resource ownership in North-East is unique to this region. Land, river, forest & everything in it is integral to the collective existence of the communities here. Rivers are part of our identity & history. Rivers are as much a part of us as we are dependent on them for our existence. How would this critical piece of fact be understood by the people who litter their holy rivers? Suffice to state here is that regardless of whatever, Siang will not be dammed. And yes, Manipur is not the capital of Shillong. It's a kingdom near Singapore. Thank you.
