we recently added google drive integration into the chatgpt library
how else could we make chatgpt better with files?

few folks go into as much depth when analyzing ai memory systems as shlok.

ChatGPT Work is OpenAI's fighter in the highest stake product category in history: bringing the power of coding agents to the masses.
It's also how a billion users will soon use ChatGPT by default.
I spent the last few days unpacking:
> how every user gets a persistent computer in the cloud
> its memory and context architecture
> the first signs of useful proactivity
> the plugin store (and its discovery problem)
> its browser-use design
> and a lot more!

ChatGPT Work => ChatGPT HelpMeWithEverything?

throughout june we rolled out major updates to chatgpt memory
it can be hard to tell the difference initially
but alot of folks are clearly feeling the improvements now
I've gotten to a point where I trust the ChatGPT memory so much, I dont even go looking for those old threads anymore.
I just start a new chat knowing it most likely 'remembers' the context in question.
I see people complain from time to time when an irrelevant memory gets mentioned in an output, but that doesn't generally impact performance. It helps FAR more often.
If you have an especially sensitive query that you dont want any memories bleeding into, you can just use a temp chat.

I really love this (internal) benchmark that @OpenAI's memory team optimizes for in their new dreaming blog (linked below)
They measure for "Staying correct over time"
This is truly a hard problem for memory systems. but why?
(this post is not AI written so pls read, thanks)
Imagine a pile of books in front of you. Let's say you can look through 5 pages max before writing something new to the book.
Someone tells you their name. You look through the titles of the book, then the table of contents, and then look at the 5 pages.
Did I already know the name? Don't do anything.
Did I know the wrong name before? Update information.
Is this a new name? Create new.
Do this a hundred times over, and you'll have information drift - You could not see everything when writing something new, so now you have redundant information, stale information, and your users will be complaining about memory.
+ If you do not have forgetfulness built into the system, it's not even the updates, it's the results themselves being stale on retrieval time.
This happens to every AI product btw, I was recently complaining about Poke bringing up incorrect and stale information, and (i think) it's some mixture of these two problems stacking over.
at @supermemory, we solve this by post-training a model that's specialized at "learning" about incoming context, along with a sampler that's also specialized for ensuring there's no redundancy :)
lost in all the discussion about new models and branding…
is the fact that the best productivity tool in the world is now on your iphone …

Quick update: I’ve now tried Work in the ChatGPT iPhone app and turned a Word document into a complete, pitch-ready PowerPoint deck. The result is spectacular. I get the value of Work now, especially on mobile. That's impressive.
