Such an under-appreciated aspect of abortion ban: There are so many people on probation or parole who are barred from leaving the state without permission.
So important in a state with record number of people on probation like Georgia.

Which made me realize: it is possible to believe that you respect an author's work while explicitly disrespecting them - to think that what I write about autocracy is serious but what I say about myself is folly. That's not how respect works.

Like a lot of people, I saw this extremely disturbing video of a police shooting in 2017. But I missed this update on the outcome for the officer: nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna102… (via @Millicentsomer)

So, at first glance this @BuzzFeedPhotos piece "17 Powerful Pictures Of The Protests Through The Eyes Of Black Photographers" is a great idea, until it turns out that photographers were not contacted, asked for permission to run their images, or paid.

Watch the video and then read the statement. The fact that so many police departments—already facing a massive crisis of credibility—are choosing to lie about things we can all see clearly on video is instructive. teapawt.net/WBFO/status/1268712530…

At the top of the hill they’re processing the arrestees. Medics and photographers among them. A woman is pulled out in a stretcher. I asked an officer what the point was and he shook his head and said “Eight o’clock”

They’re dragging people out one by one. It looks like a mosh pit in there. To be clear this was a peaceful protest that cops surrounded and charged at 8 pm on the dot

So I wanna go through what I saw in Brooklyn last night. I was with a group of a few hundred protestors. They marched peacefully, actively deescalating & avoiding cops after 8pm. Then they went to Cadman plaza, walking right into what I can only describe as a strategic nightmare.

I‘d love to think this is a given but...I hope those reporters who are having bad experiences with police for the first time will consider their own coverage of these systems going forward.

I cannot understand the point of this. An NYPD Chief told protesters they were okay marching after curfew if they stayed peaceful. They were. This was the scene before the ambush
