While Bergsonism enjoyed widespread popular appeal, it was critically targetted by Susan Stebbing, Bertrand Russell, Moritz Schlick, and Rudolf Carnap. These responses eventually contributed to the formation of the view that ‘analytic’ and ‘continental’ philosophy are divided.
I'm happy to say that my newest monograph, titled 'Bergsonism and the History of Analytic Philosophy', has just been published in @PalgravePhil 's 'History of Analytic Philosophy' Series.

My first monograph is going to the printer next week! For those interested in William James, pragmatism, decapitated frogs, mechanical automata, hemipelegic patients, self-experimentation involving wads of putty shoved into one's own eyeball sockets, etc; the usual fare.

Twitter, I need some #historyofphilosophy help! I *think* that Hilda Diana Oakeley became the UK's first female Reader in Philosophy, at KCL in 1921. But perhaps there are other UK women philosophers who achieved the role first?

the other night at a party in Oxford this guy called Paul asked what I did for a living,I said “a lecturer in philosophy”.He was angered & demanded more info. I said I’m “mainly a philosopher of art etc” He replied: “wtf, it’s so embarrassing that you’d call urself a philosopher”
