Miami's Malachi Toney is the Associated Press national player of the week for the second time this season after totaling 194 yards and three touchdowns on a program-record 16 catches in a 52-23 rout of Pittsburgh. He broke the record of 13 that he set against Pitt last year.

It was fun at the ol' ballyard at Hard Rock Stadium. The Canes ripped Pitt 52-23, with an aerial show featuring Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney. And the best part is it didn't rain...
- First of all, before the game, the tailgate at the Black East Lot was great. The Canes 4 Life tailgate had a host of former players, many from the 2001 national title team that was honored this weekend. Also, Jimmy Johnson swung by and had a good time with the people.
Multiple Hall-of-Famers were milling around.
- As for the game, it was clear that Miami was going with the throw game early and often. Malachi Toney had another monster day (16 catches, 194 yards and 3 touchdowns) and he's right back in the thick of the Heisman race. As is Mensah (31-for-37, 387 yards, 4 TDs). There's a very good chance that Miami could have two Heisman finalists in New York.
- Miami didn't run the ball all that well (39 attempts for 119 yards) as Pitt was in a bit of a Catch-22 on defense. They could stop one facet of the Miami offense, not both.
- Pitt didn't have Alex Van Pelt walking through that door, much less Dan Marino. That injury to Mason Heintschel has basically ruined what was a promising season at 5-0 just a few weeks ago.
- On a Saturday where teams who won last week in emotionally draining games went down it was good to see Miami just methodically blow out a team. Just as big was that it seemed like they came out relatively healthy.
Now, it's onto Halloween night at Chapel Hill.

Seeing tweets that today is the birthday of the late Cortez Kennedy. I never saw a Miami Hurricane player who took the leap that 'Tez' did from his junior season to his senior campaign. He went from a guy who was probably given a 'free agent' grade to the #3 pick in the 1990 draft. #Canes

Forget Nike or Adidas, when the #Canes truly had the perfect uniform was this era. And the jerseys were made by Russell Athletic. I forgot who this player was. His name escapes me, but I recall he was pretty good...
