The musical bond between John McLaughlin and Indian ghatam virtuoso Vikku Vinayakram traces back to the early 1970s, when they came together to create the path-breaking fusion group Shakti. On December 14, at the Friends Forever concert at NCPA in Mumbai marking the first death anniversary of Ustaad Zakir Hussain, the two legends were reunited. My friend @jairamvgj was there and he sent me this message and the video… “I was fortunate to be backstage when this deeply moving moment unfolded and to be able to record it; it is a quiet lesson in love, friendship, and lives forever united by music.” Music: a force that creates unbreakable bonds

Holding my Grammy while my family cheers me on is the culmination of countless dreams & endless support. Their love & belief in me made THIS MOMENT possible & I couldn’t have done it without them. The greatest reward is sharing this joy with the people who mean the world to me❤️
