Lol. This guy is going to win in a landslide in 2028.
Ossoff: Abroad, American credibility and leadership are in decay, and the world is rearming for global conflict. And at our grave peril, humanity is fast forgetting the terrible lessons of two World Wars and the Holocaust. Meanwhile, the titans of Silicon Valley dig bunkers for themselves and warn that the artificial intelligence they're creating risks human extinction. And amidst these challenges of unprecedented consequence and complexity, though we rightly celebrate tonight's historic victory, the fact is we’ve been too long mired in a small and selfish politics, bought by big money, unmoored from fixed moral principles, and resigned to intractable division. In other words, the United States has been adrift in a gale. But, Georgia, we can and will reclaim control over our own destiny.

If we treated Nigeria the way we treat our personal businesses, by now, we would have fired and blacklisted most of our leaders, past and present. Imagine running a company where management repeatedly fails to deliver, wastes resources, misses targets, and keeps making excuses. How long would you keep those people in charge? Yet, when it comes to running a country, we sometimes make excuses for the very things we would never tolerate in our own businesses. Leadership should come with targets, accountability, and consequences for failure. In a democracy, the consequences of failure are felt during the election period. We can do better. Yes, we can.

The US mid-term elections once again show why free and fair elections are the bedrock of democracy. People in power make decisions that affect everyone, for better or worse. The power to retain or vote out an individual or group we don’t want, in free, fair and credible elections, is the ultimate sanction that the voter has. Any society where the electorate cannot freely exercise this power, devoid of violence, intimidation and threats, cannot claim to be practising democracy. In any society where the judiciary cannot protect and enforce the right to free, fair and credible elections whose outcomes reflect the will of the people, there cannot be said to be rule of law. The concepts of free, fair and credible elections devoid of violence, intimidation and threats, and of an independent and conscionable judiciary upholding the rule of law, will soon be tested in Nigeria. Let us use our tongue to count our teeth. I am Ezemmuo. I know things.

James Talarico responds to AOC calling woke 1.0 crazy, policing people's language is performative politics, and it stops you from building a coalition “I do think that there was a rise in performative politics in people who are more concerned about using the right words, usually determined by academia” “Those are unifying values that we all agree on.” “But when you start policing people's language, when you start judging people because they're not up on the right terminology, you're no longer building a coalition to address those real problems” “you're performing a kind of politics that's about your own intellectual and emotional needs and not about actually making change.” w/ @jamestalarico

US politics and culture wars are having negative impact on the worldview of far too many Christians - both within the US, and in places like Africa. It is so ludicrous that some people genuinely believe that once America has a Republican President, "everything he does is approved by God". This is a product of a lack of self-awareness, ignorance, bad theology and mental laziness.

BREAKING: An Iowa Democrat who dropped out of his race in September over health issues still won his State House seat comfortably, in a district that leans Republian. “I’m going to do my best to represent”, Eric Armstrong told NYT. “But I still have health issues.”

Setanyahu just needs to leave first.
The bad news keeps piling up. What happened in America last night is a catastrophe. Take AIPAC’s worst nightmares, double them, and you still don’t get close. The only consolation is that Abdul El-Sayed won his Senate seat by a smaller margin than expected. Will the Democrats learn that anti-Israel politics and antisemitism cost you votes? I doubt it. And a great many Jews voted for him anyway. It’s getting worse. First the Democrats blamed Israel for America’s troubles: grocery prices, America’s slipping standing, the war with Iran. Now, with JD Vance’s tweet and Donald Trump Jr.’s share, the Republicans are blaming Israel for the Republican Party’s troubles. Vance’s message: we stuck too close to Israel. That is far more dangerous. Israel now faces its biggest challenge in Washington since at least the 1975 “reassessment,” when Ford and Kissinger froze arms deals to pressure Jerusalem. There’s only one answer I know of: a national unity government. Flirting with a new election, a minority government propped up by the Arab parties, or a deal with the Haredim would be a grave mistake.

(PS) And ditto with Florida. Keeping in mind the wins tonight in Georgia and North Carolina and South Carolina and Texas, this really could have been almost a wholesale retaking of the South by the Democratic Party. It turns out that the only error was thinking too small(!)

For the love of all that is good, Democrats, do not squander this. The voters have given you a mandate. Use it. Be the party of working people. Be the anti-war party. Be the anti-corruption party. Be the party that ignores the Senate Parliamentarian. We cannot go back to business as usual.
