I've been reading the archived Music Weeks (a UK chart industry/trade publication) on worldradiohistory.com and in recent days they've been uploading 1997 issues. It's pretty interesting to follow the story of how Princess Di's death derailed a Kylie album.

Just received hours of Garbage VHS footage that hasn't made it to the internet yet. I don't know yet if I have permission to put this on my channel but I will ask if I can forward this stuff to the Garbage documentary team to be able to use. OMG what a nice end to this shit day

So many other things to remember and celebrate Sir Patrick Stewart for... but this has to be one of the best line readings in the history of The Simpsons

Our ILM community offers its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Patrick Stewart, as well as to the galaxy of fans who admired him for his portrayal of Star Trek's Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Marvel's Professor Charles Xavier. ILM cherishes the opportunities we've had to collaborate with Stewart on a variety of productions, most notably Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek Generations, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

A lesser known gem that Patrick Stewart starred in was Jeffrey. One of the first gay-themed films I watched as a teen. Stewart, a straight man, played the role of a gay man in NYC with a profound fear of acquiring AIDS so perfectly.

He’ll never know this but Patrick Stewart showed countless boys how to be men. He showed that strength didn't have to mean intimidation, that intelligence should come with humility, and that you could - and should - stand up for what was right even when it cost you something.

If you need some cheering up, do yourself a favour and watch #StarTrekTNG's "Lessons" around the 15 minute mark. In these shots, Patrick Stewart is blowing into the flute but the hands are not his, they are "played" by a flutist. Look at the sparkle in Sir Patrick Stewart's eyes and the genuine smile on his face! 😊 Filming this scene, with the flutist lying on his back in front of Sir Patrick and reaching up to play, must have been absolutely absurd - but he's going with it, classic as ever! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So to get this straight. That Wetherspoon’s in Gosport explained what happened, poppies were not actually banned, and yet some β€˜patriots’ went down there tonight to hold a demo demanding something that has already been sorted out. Complete and utter performative nonsense.

As an older millennial that was a teenager for these movies, I do not remember anybody saying the prequels sucked at the time. That was social media revisionism by nerdy edgelords on social media 10 years later. Episode I is a masterpiece (and Empire is still my favorite)

People don't understand how much VH1 contributed to cultural literacy. Yeah you were high on the couch watching hours of Pop Up video & I Love The (pick a decade) but you were also getting an education in cultural history. We could use more of that, now, & less tik tok slop.
"Pop-Up Video" debuted on VH1 on this date in 1996, adding a whole new layer to watching music videos. BITE-SIZED FACT | The show filled music videos with pop-up bubbles revealing trivia, behind-the-scenes stories and amusing facts about the artists and songs.

Jason went from chasing teenagers around Crystal Lake to exploring outer space, and somehow his first order of business was turning someone's head into an ice cube. Say what you want about Jason X, but that liquid nitrogen kill is easily one of the best in the entire franchise. #CrystalLake #FridayThe13th #JasonVoorhees #Horror

This might sound dead stupid but I didn't think the climb was that vertical, I thought it was at most lile that street in Partick who can be arsed with that.
Watching people summit Everest and realizing that where they are at on the mountain their bodies are literally dying and the slightest thing that goes wrong means you have a good chance of your body forever being left on the mountain. The coolest thing is seeing when the jet stream hits the top of the mountain, that’s what gives those iconic photos of the snow and contrails coming off the mountain, the actual jet stream miles above our heads slamming into the top of Everest.
