The Texas abortion law, known as Senate Bill 8, was drafted to make it difficult to challenge in court. It bars state officials from enforcing it, and instead deputizes private individuals to sue anyone who performs the procedure or “aids and abets” it. nyti.ms/3zDBoTj

To be clear: Planned Parenthood health centers remain open, and we are here to help Texans navigate this dangerous law. We will continue to fight in the courts for abortion rights and access.

From Dr. Abigail Zuger (one of the best MD writers out there), a reminder that rejection of sound medical advice is far from a new thing -- whether it's to get a covid vaccine or to take HIV therapy. Highly recommended! @PreetiNMalani ja.ma/2UAgu8l

Just spent an hour on a call with @mutualofomaha to get a life-saving prescription for a patient. Was denied to have a peer2peer discussion about a disease for which I just recently wrote the guidelines. I guess I will be admitting the patient at 10X the cost now.

Why has the United States handled this pandemic so badly? The Editors note that although we came into this crisis with enormous advantages, our current political leaders have demonstrated that they are dangerously incompetent.
