Constant source of confusion so I’m just going to decree in my practice that if it comes out of the body, it’s a tube. If it stays inside, it’s a stent. Therefore:
Ureteral stent
Nephrostomy tube
Nephroureteral tube
SP tube
I was giving a presentation and someone asked how UroLift implants work. I said they worked a little like duffle coat toggles and everyone made fun of me for knowing what those are. It's honestly a curse being this cool and fashionable
I think there are likely many other hospitals who could use a little investigative reporting like this
Major new @nytimes investigation: For years, NYU Langone’s Manhattan emergency room has been secretly giving priority access to donors, trustees and other VIPs, while providing only cursory care to the homeless. @sarahkliff @jbsgreenberg @virginiahughes 🧵 nytimes.com/2022/12/22/healt…
I’m just getting over COVID and everyone at the hospital’s concern is touching but as I start to feel better it’s getting very slightly alarming how many people are expressing sympathy for how “tired” or “sweaty” I look
On the phone right now with an insurance company who says I can’t do a peer-to-peer because it’s been longer than 10 days. Order was placed on the 12th. I said “today is the 22nd, that’s 10 days.” They said “no, that’s 11 days, because the 12th is day one.” Excuse me
Their solution was for me to open a new ticket, as if I had just ordered the scan, so that I could have the peer-to-peer. Except this time when I opened a new ticket, the scan was approved immediately. I asked why this time not the last, and they said “iunno”
