Multiple Ohio venues are canceling or dropping Vivek Ramaswamy’s bus tour stops after his ad featuring Amy Acton’s estranged mother—who stayed with the stepfather charged with raping Acton at 12. Old Dog Ale House & Brewery in Delaware canceled a GOP ticket event. A Sunday service at CrossPointe Church in Westerville disappeared from the tour page. A Trumbull County stop now has no location listed. A top Ohio Republican: “We’re getting calls that people don’t want him there. It’s that damn ad.” Gov. DeWine called it wrong and urged it taken down. This is the blowback.

If your “Christianity” needs to be saved by politicians, it’s not real Christianity.
"We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window…” - Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump. @atrupar.

Don’t become numb to this. It’s disgusting and dangerous racism and if Rogers wins next month it’ll only escalate. Sick, sick stuff.

El-Sayed: In my Neurology unit, I would have to give that MOCA exam, that cognitive test he's so proud of… The only people you give that test to are people who you worry may have cognitive deficits. By definition, if you’re taking one of those tests, something is wrong.  And you know the doctor who gave it to him was like, I just want to see how smart you are, sir. And he's like, me too. He brags about having taken it. He's like I remembered the rhinoceros. You're like Habibi, everybody remember the rhinoceros. And the funny thing about it is, you know, he's taken it multiple times. So he's not even bragging about the first time he took it. He's like, I took it the 1st time and then I took it the 2nd time. So with Donald Trump, you can't blame him for this, he's just dumb. But for Mike Rogers, can you imagine how small of a human being you have to be to know that he has real deficits and to just nod your head approvingly at the most ridiculous shit that the man proposes?

A Gothic cathedral was far more than a monumental place of worship. It was an extraordinary achievement in medieval engineering. From around the 12th century, builders across Europe developed a distinctive architectural language using pointed arches, ribbed vaults and flying buttresses. Together, these features helped distribute the enormous forces generated by tall stone ceilings, allowing walls to accommodate larger windows. Look closely at the structure. The ribbed vaults channel loads towards supporting piers, while flying buttresses transfer outward thrust to external masonry supports. Pinnacles crown many of these supports, adding vertical emphasis and, in some cases, useful weight. The transept forms the crosswise arm of the church, while the ambulatory allows movement around the choir. Above the entrance, a rose window transforms stone tracery and coloured glass into intricate patterns of light. What fascinates me most is how Gothic architecture combines structural logic with visual drama. Every arch, column and window contributes to the experience of height, light and space. These cathedrals were built over generations, often changing as designs, resources and ambitions evolved.

𝘏. 𝘱𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪 infection is an infectious disease, and treatment regimens should ideally be guided by antimicrobial-susceptibility testing whenever possible. 🔗 nej.md/4Bj3O58 Both phenotypic (culture-based) and molecular methods of antimicrobial-susceptibility testing are available (seen in figure). Culture-based testing remains the reference standard because it is the only method that can ascertain the susceptibility of isolates to all antibiotics commonly used for eradication. Molecular antimicrobial-susceptibility testing offers greater efficiency than culture-based testing by eliminating the need for 𝘏. 𝘱𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪 culture. Molecular-based testing can be conducted with fresh or formalin-fixed gastric-tissue samples (used for histopathological examination) and successfully cultured isolates. More recently, gastric-fluid samples obtained from a swallowed gastric string have emerged as a cost-effective alternative culture-based testing method. Stool-based molecular antimicrobial-susceptibility testing is now available, which avoids invasive endoscopy. Commercial polymerase-chain-reaction–based kits are now available for identifying 𝘏. 𝘱𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪 resistance to clarithromycin and levofloxacin by detecting specific mutations in the 𝘏. 𝘱𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪 23S ribosomal RNA and gyrA genes, respectively. A meta-analysis reported high accuracy of these molecular methods for detecting antibiotic resistance in gastric-biopsy samples, with sensitivity and specificity of 96% and 96%, respectively, for clarithromycin resistance and 97% and 99% for quinolone resistance. Learn more in the Review Article “𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘺𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪 Infection — Advances, Challenges, and the Road Ahead” by Hong Li, MD, PhD, Francis Megraud, MD, and Barry J. Marshall, MD: nej.md/4Bj3O58

Chris Antonetti made it clear that the Guardians expect Steven Kwan to remain a key part of their contending team next season, praising his performance, leadership and second-half turnaround. “As we sit here today, we’re expecting Steven Kwan to be a big part of a contending team next year," Antonetti said. “We were talking about our appreciation for the year he had. The way he was able to turn around his season, how much we appreciate his on-field performance, his leadership, and our expectation that he’s going to be here moving forward.” (cleveland.com/guardians/2026…)
