Hey @GWRHelp I had a bike reservation booked for a train but was denied boarding (a very empty train) because it was “full up” of bike spaces. How can that be? What’s the point of reserving a bike space? What a joke.

What an incredible experience it was whirling over London while interviewing @DonnDelson in a *helicopter*.
Dispatches from the sky: AT caught up with American aerial photographer @DonnDelson in a helicopter while flying over #London as he surveyed the city’s rooftops. We found out what he’s looking for, what he’s discovered + why he does it. See more below! ⬇️

Also impressive from above was tp bennett and Arup’s Poultry Market in Smithfield - a concrete triumph, once the flattest domed roof in the world - that endures today and is part of the plans of the Smithfield Market development as it turns into the Museum of London.
Delson’s photos are far far better than mine - click the link below to see those! architecturetoday.co.uk/disp…

Costa’s Barbers in @Arch_Today, with words by @adjasoncies and a great little film about the relationship of the project to the high street by @clickclickjim.

Some lucky students (and staff) here. Just a shame it's seemingly only Oxbridge where all the money is for such projects at the moment, not that that should detract from what is such a well executed project:
Clare College recalibrated: Witherford Watson Mann’s considered addition to @ClareCollege at @Cambridge_Uni tiptoes around the existing Old Court building to improve access while adding a new café that looks out over the River Cam. architecturetoday.co.uk/clar…
A small project with a lot to talk about. Great to speak to
@thombrisco, @pandorafloran and @ArrantDuncan about it too:
Barbershop duet: Architect Brisco Loran and Arrant Industries (@ArrantDuncan) have turned a former barbershop in #Battersea into a flexible home, an office and a place for trade. Known as ‘Costa’s Barbers’, the scheme is rich with architectural ideas.

"I like to sleep at night, and to do that, I need to have added value before the shovels hit the ground." Great to speak witj @ArrantDuncan about, how he chooses architects to work with... + what puts him off, as well as how @ArrantLand make small sites work + @nbhd_company ⬇️
"I look through pretty much every property auction in the UK – something like 3,000-5,000 properties each month." @ArrantDuncan in Meet the Client series talks to AT about #smallsites, auctions + his role at @ArrantLand + elsewhere. Full interview ⬇️

Obviously one of the world's largest oil companies doesn't care about embodied carbon, let alone knocking a building down.
NEWS: Shell begins demolition of Brutalist Aberdeen HQ despite backlash bit.ly/48MQU09
"It sounds odd, but things like repetitive manual labour can be rewarding. At the end of the day there’s a sense of achievement... Whereas sometimes in the office, you can spend a whole day just moving lines around."
“It’s made us better architects.” Surman Weston discuss with AT everything from buying the site at auction to being a main contractor for their house in #Peckham. Read the full Q&A as they dive into the details of how they did it, in the link below ⬇️

"It’s an audition for a guest spot on the Joe Rogan podcast and a cover letter for a megaproject in a well-capitalized petrostate." Michael Nicholas' review of Heatherwick's Humanise is a good read archpaper.com/2024/02/book-h…

For the record, I think this is the most heinous page in Thomas Heatherwick's new book.

Delighted to be asked by @adjasoncies to write this piece on the Farrell Centre 9 months in. In short, lots achieved, lots still to do!
Director of the @FarrellCentre, @owen_hopkins, details how the centre is finding its feed and serving as a genuine public forum for the built environment, nine months after opening its doors. Read on in the link below ⬇️
