Gas prices are the highest I've seen them in a while.
As a result Americans are shifting back toward cheaper, smaller, fuel-efficient vehicles. Higher vehicle prices and gasoline costs are pushing buyers toward compact SUVs, sedans and especially hybrids. Chevrolet Trax/Trailblazer, Hyundai Elantra, Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla are benefiting, while several larger SUVs are declining. Toyota’s September U.S. sales rose 8.4%, and electrified vehicles—mostly hybrids—represented 58.2% of Toyota/Lexus sales.
