it's also not necessarily true. "critics are just failed artists" only holds if you don't consider criticism an art, and i personally side with Oscar Wilde in saying that it is. Many reviews are greater artistic achievements than what they are reviewing!

Can always tell when an artsy/art-house adjacent movie crosses over into mainstream territory because those normie audiences absolutely do not give a shit about showing up 15 - 25 minutes late and missing the beginning. Just does not matter to them lol
