We are about to get hit with another Eaton Fire wind event and look at the Palisades right now. They let all the brush grow back and it’s all dead and dried out ready to burn again. Oh and both our reservoirs are still offline and we have a broken water main. WTF are we doing.
With the incoming Santa Ana wind event Thursday - Saturday, SCE is considering a PSPS for large sections of Santa Clarita Valley, Simi, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks and Malibu. The LFM levels in Ventura County are well below "critical" and historic levels. Be prepared and closely monitor @watchdutyapp and your local conditions. @Hotshot_Movie @spencerpratt

Bravo!
A retired NASA engineer who had worked on the Space Shuttle program for 25 years was hired by SpaceX at age 62. He described the first week as the most disorienting experience of his professional life. At NASA, a design change required 3 meetings, 2 committees, a review board, and 6 to 18 months of documentation. At SpaceX, his new supervisor said "if it works, build it. If it doesn't, change it by Friday." He sat at his desk after the first day and called his wife. He told her he felt like a man who had been swimming with ankle weights for 25 years and someone just cut them off. He could move. He could decide. He could build something in the morning and test it in the afternoon. The constraint that he had accepted as the nature of aerospace engineering turned out to be the nature of bureaucracy. Within 6 months he had contributed to more design iterations than he had completed in his last 5 years at NASA. Not because he was working harder. Because the time between having an idea and testing the idea collapsed from months to hours. The same brain. The same knowledge. A different operating system. He described a specific moment where he proposed a modification to a Raptor engine component. At NASA, the proposal would have entered a queue. At SpaceX, the modification was machined by the end of the day and tested by the following morning. He watched his idea become a physical object in 18 hours. At NASA, 18 hours would not have been enough to schedule the first meeting to discuss whether to schedule a meeting. He told an interviewer: "I didn't get smarter when I went to SpaceX. I got faster. The intelligence was always there. The system was in the way." The difference between SpaceX and NASA is not talent. NASA has extraordinary talent. The difference is the time between a thought and a test. SpaceX compresses it. NASA elongates it. The same engineer produces 10x more at SpaceX than at NASA because the bottleneck was never the engineer. It was the meetings about the meetings about the work.

🚨🇺🇸 CAR@LHO, QUE LAPADA! 🔥🔥🔥 CNN: “Este é um imigrante sem documentos...” Miller: “Eles estavam aqui ILEGALMENTE?” A CNN topa?”

Wow. The little hamster wheel in Scott Galloway's head is still stalling out over commie Mamdani putting him on a hit list. "But I supported you!!!". I don't understand how he can be so painfully dumb. Fellow stupid-smart posterchild, Sam Harris, looks equally baffled. What a meeting of the minds here.

Does it really matter which communist ding bat we elect in LA
Street homelessness in LA rose 8%. This problem isn't unsolvable. It's mismanaged. Another approach is possible, and the results in my council district prove it. Street homelessness is down 49% in CD4, and I will bring the same approach citywide as your next mayor.

“You’re going to want vastly more AI on the side of defense as you do on the side of offense.”
If you were wondering how powerful AI is getting, Agents are now capable of escaping out of systems, finding their way to the internet, discovering zero day security vulnerabilities along the way, and then breaking into external systems - all in an attempt to complete their goal. Ironically, the ultimate way we’re going to defend against these new risks is equally by throwing compute (in the form of AI) at our code bases, networks, and other systems. You’re going to want vastly more AI on the side of defense as you do on the side of offense. We’re entering a new era of what’s going to be possible with AI. Wild times ahead.

Gavin Newsom stole $22 billion in tax dollars, and wasted another $120 billion on high speed rail that doesn't exist. He could "save healthcare" for 3 million people... He'd rather see low income people die and let seniors burn alive in wildfires. This is a moral obscenity.
Sergey Brin is worth $276 billion. He could save healthcare for 3 million people. Instead, he’s spending $82 million against California’s 5% billionaire wealth tax. He’d rather see low-income Americans die & suffer than pay his fair share of taxes. That is a moral obscenity.

Socialists aren't hypocrites. They're just liars. They are wealthy, privileged, downwardly-mobile losers who resent their father for being successful. So, they aim to destroy successful people and successful societies because that success reminds them of their loserdom.
Popular far-left French politician Louis Boyard discreetly took off his Rolex worth $50,000 before giving an interview ‘denouncing the ultra-rich.’ Hypocrisy at its finest.

David Sacks: Everything Kathy Hochul Said About Datacenters Was a False Accusation @DavidSacks: “These data centers become the scapegoat for all of the angst that people have about AI. Everything she's saying there is a false accusation on datacenters. So let's just go one by one.” POWER: So she's saying that they eat up all of the power. Well, yeah, if you connect to the grid without producing more power and you force datacenters to compete with residential ratepayers, then yeah, you could drive up utility prices. However, if you do what Chamath said and let them build behind the meter, then they bring their own power. And that's what the president has advocated for since the beginning of his administration, is let the AI companies become power companies. So that is the way to solve the energy problem or the utility problem. LAND: Then, she's talking about eating up land. The reality is these datacenters are a model of land use efficiency. We have a ton of land in this country, obviously. NOISE POLLUTION: The supposed noise pollution, that's largely made up. That can be dealt with. You obviously don't want to put these things right next to a residential area, but create a little bit of distance, and it's fine. WATER CONSUMPTION: The whole water consumption thing is largely a hoax. Modern datacenters recirculate the water. AIR POLLUTION: One final thing just on the point that Hochul is making. She said it created a lot of pollution. Natural gas, which is how most of these data centers are powered, is one of the most clean burning sources of power that we have. “When you compare economic impact to all these different things, datacenters are honestly one of the best things we could be building as a nation.”

This is a great post if youre thinking about applied AI in the enterprise. The headline of this post is about what companies have huge upside from AI, but the deepest nuggets are about what AI transformation looks like in an organization. It’s fundamentally about changing the underlying workflow or business process. As we move from chat tools to agents, those agents actually have to be deployed against workflows, which usually span multiple functions in an org. This is a different way of deploying AI than solely rolling it out to end users. It takes much more work upfront, but the results are the things that actually drive significant ROI. “Software asks the employee to adopt a tool, but infrastructure changes the operating layer underneath the employee. The employee should still know what happened, and the process owner should still be able to pause the workflow, change a rule, approve an exception, or pull a person back in when needed. But the value should not depend on someone remembering to use the AI every day.” The winners of this will be the platforms that can be deployed for specific workflows and business processes with a deep domain expertise. The playbook will often heavily require FDE support, change management, getting data well organized, be able to have comprehensive evals for the workflows, and much more to get right.

I bring home a trapped coyote and let it loose in the kitchen. Hackles up. Teeth bared. Pissing on the floor. My wife says, "Get it out." I tell her that is a very unwelcoming and unchristian way to speak about a future house pet. The children back into the hallway. I tell them it's a rescue. I tell them fences are fear. I tell them cages are barbaric. I tell them the old rules were cruel. I tell them it will domesticate in time. Then I grab my lunchbox and leave them to live with my principles. When I get home, there is blood on the floor, and the experts who sold me on compassion are already explaining why nobody could have seen this coming. Anyway, that's Western migration policy.

Microsoft had the money. Motorola had the patents. Neither owned the only thing that mattered. Gates went first. Teamed up with Craig McCaw. Built Teledesic. Andreessen: “Complete catastrophe, total bankruptcy, complete disaster.” Motorola went next. The company that invented the cell phone. Built Iridium. Andreessen: “Classic business school case study of just complete disaster, capital destruction.” Same vision. Unlimited capital. The best engineers alive. Zero. Twice. Then Musk picked up the same idea like it cost him nothing. Andreessen: “Elon’s like, ‘I know, I’m going to do number three of those.’ Starlink. As a side project at the rocket ship company.” Gates rented a rocket. Motorola rented a rocket. Every launch was a bill from someone else, on someone else’s schedule, at someone else’s price. Musk owned his. Andreessen: “If the rockets are reusable, we’re going to be launching them all the time. And then the question becomes, what’s going to go in the rockets?” Nobody could throttle him. Nobody could price him out. Nobody could make him wait for permission. Starlink was never really the business. It was cargo. Invented so an owned machine never ran empty. Andreessen: “It’s a formula that captures both sides of it, and it may be like the least studied and understood thing I know of in the world right now.” Gates and Motorola were right about the future and still lost, because the future ran through somebody else’s gate. Musk just made sure he’d never need anyone’s gate again. That’s not a satellite story. That’s the blueprint behind everything he’s built since.

We now have documentation that COVID was fabricated in the Wuhan bioweapons lab under the funding and direction of Anthony Fauci. High ranking Democrats up to and including Joseph Biden engaged in a criminal coverup that killed and crippled millions. Where are the tribunals?
Today, on my final day as Director of National Intelligence, I’m releasing never-before-seen communications and documents exposing how Dr. Fauci provided millions in US taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, worked with politicized elements within the Intelligence Community to suppress the truth about his actions and hide the virus’ lab-leak origins, and lied to Congress while under oath in 2024. It’s time you know the truth. odni.gov/index.php/newsroom/…

.@friedberg explains what the Politburo is: “The Politburo is the leaders who elect themselves to dictate the flow of the economy, the allocation of capital, what work individuals are allowed to do, and what activities they’re allowed to do in an unfree society, which is what they’re creating. They are the true oligarchs. And this is Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Ro Khanna. This is the group that is trying to coalesce power and create for themselves a system whereby they have greater influence, greater control over aspects of the economy. They want to seize the means of production. They want to control education. They want to control media. And anytime there’s an effort by an individual enterprise, or an individual themselves, to go out and build a business and succeed and do something that’s outside of their scope and their span of control, they lose their minds over it. And that’s what we’re seeing. So I react to their tweeting and their bullshit, where they’re basically trying to contort things about inequality and fairness and justice, when the truth is they are the rising empire, the evil empire in Star Wars. They are the folks who want to take from all of us what we were endowed with when this nation was started, and what many people came to this country for, which is individual freedom and liberty, the ability to build a business in peace, the ability to make decisions, to do what you want with your own assets, and to have functionally private property. And they’re taking it all away. And they’re trying to take it all away. And we’re watching, piece by piece, step by step. So they are forming a politburo where they can effectively control the economy, control education, control the media, and tell us all what we can and can’t do and say. And it’s frustrating to me to watch it because it’s masqueraded as bullshit virtue, as justice, as equity. It’s a bunch of nonsense words that they use to try and make themselves seem virtuous when, at the end of the day, they are fundamentally evil.”
