Do you ever think, “I like Henry Ford’s antisemitism and untold wealth, but I hate how he reinvented the economy and created millions of jobs.” Well you’re in luck, because we’ve got Elon Musk.

Did anyone else read this and wonder how the Scrolller could be considered a right wing authoritarian.

This is why I think debates are the worst format for comparing and contrasting viewpoints, it benefits the dishonest in a way that can't possibly be evened out.
A frustrating aspect of this show is that the host doesn’t say in any detail what he’s going to ask you about and then gets to confront you with a big stack of research that it’s not possible to pause and do fact-checking on and then it turns out some of it’s not true.

Well, at least they're not trying to ease up on carjackings anymore.
There's been a flurry of talk this month in the D.C. Council about whether parking and traffic fines should be reduced. But the reality is that making tickets cheaper for drivers will be costly for the city, and that could complicate any real action: washingtonsun.com/metro/dc-r…

He wants the help of people who want to shoot trans people in the head?
Hasan Piker talked about how lonely it is doing what he does every day with very little support from the Democratic Party against the Republican Party's slanderous attacks against him. They never push back against the harmful rhetoric, but instead lean into the right-wing framing: "It's an unbelievably frustrating situation and I'll be honest with you; if I wasn't such a stubborn piece of shit, I probably would have given up. I'm not going to, I'm going to keep pushing but it is very lonely here. We have our community. We have our allies in independent media. But, with no institutional support, with no top-line Democrats coming out and swatting away these ridiculous and slanderous lines of attack, it feels pretty fucking lonely. I'm just frustrated, man. What's frustrating about it is that it's self-defeating for the Democrats. It's unbelievably stupid to lean into Republican attacks against the left in general, not just with me, but with any number of different left-wing candidates. Never concede to oppositional framing."

I genuinely don't see how the poll aggregation business continues at this point. There are like 3 non-fake pollsters, we can average them in our heads.
The website, substack and X account for @SocalStrategies went offline overnight socalstrategiespoll.com/ Admitted fraudster Wedgewood Polls told @ZacharyDonnini that they once worked for Socal xitter.cf/ZacharyDonnini/status/… More in today's Pollwatcher (sign up) subscribe.washingtonpost.com…

SoCal isn't even one of these random ones that appeared out of nowhere, they've been around for a while. Their last poll was a day ago. And now all trace of them is gone.

For guys who are fixated on being on the right side of history, they sure do love being on the wrong side of the most morally clear-cut conflict since Kosovo.
Cenk: My view of the war guys is that while it made sense in the beginning to help the Ukrainians… this war is over, the Ukraine has lost, and so you can say ‘oh no, that hurts my feelings, I don’t want Ukraine to lose’—I agree, I don’t want Ukraine to lose, it drives me crazy that Russia may be able to keep some of their ill-gotten gains from their invasion. And, and so at the same time I’ve seen what happened to the Palestinians, so once you’re on the losing end of that leverage it never gets better… your situation deteriorates, and gets worse and worse and worse, you lose more and more land, more and more territory, more and more power, and then you have to make a worse deal, right? So as painful as it is, uh, you sometimes have to take the best option out of very bad options. So if I’m advising the Ukrainians, let alone American… on the issue of financing the war forever apparently, right? I would tell the Ukrainians get to the negotiating table, make as good a deal as you possibly can, and then look to rebuild your own country and eventually these borders will be meaningless at some point anyway… so… stop losing these lives, you have a country… and, and please maintain of it as much of it as you can today because the Russians have so many more people, let alone weapons, let alone resources. Ukraine’s not gonna be able to win this war no matter how much we finance it. Yes, part of the mission of the Americans was to bleed the Russians dry, but now we’re bleeding ourselves dry. Ana: 100%. Cenk: So let’s end the war, get the peace, and save lives on both sides.

I'm fine with that, the alternative is them becoming lifelong GOP voters. Congrats on the most ephemeral coalition ever cobbled together.
A generation of young men helped destroy democracy and instead of admitting fault and helping to put it back together, they're like "fuck it, not our problem." A generation of self-absorbed nihilistic pieces of shit.

Not only did Salman Rushdie have to live in hiding, everyone tangentially involved with The Satanic Verses was in danger. They killed the Japanese translator.
If you ever sought out the novels of Sally Rooney in bookshops – when that was still possible – you’d know they sit in the fiction stacks adjacent to the novels of another SR whose books have been withdrawn in dastardly political circumstances. Until last week, “Rooney” and “Rushdie” had little in common beyond being shelfmates; now they have more than just a physical proximity. @tanjil_rashid_: This is censorship by other means newstatesman.com/comment/202…

Everyone needs a lawyer in a free society, I mutter to myself while stabbing my face with a fork a la Weapons.
I once got an acquittal for a guy who grabbed his wife by the hair, slapped her, and then fired a revolver next to her head… and then threw her out of the trailer and fired another round in the air outside of the trailer… because he was trying to watch the Super Bowl and she wouldn’t stop nagging him. I tried the case because there was no plea deal even offered. Two felonies, both with mandatory 10 years and no parole. Nothing to lose… After the wife testified at trial, being particularly nasty to me on cross examination, the jury apparently sympathized with my client, who had been married to her for decades, and just like that… set him free. Even the judge couldn’t believe it. That trailer is still sitting there - now abandoned - on the side of US 219 and you can still see the bullet hole in the wall.

Yeah that's the Irish's problem, hugged too much as children.
🇮🇪 The Irish state has published an advert discouraging grandparents from hugging their grandchildren, as part of a campaign designed to promote "consent".

The elephant in the room of the OoT remake is the Water Temple. That was considered needlessly frustrating at a time when games were expected to be frustrating. What are they going to do in the age of yellow paint.

I'm just going to assume any pollster I've never heard of is straight up fabricated. I know it's unfair but they should have policed their industry better.

It's insanely bad that a Russian stooge will almost certainly be in charge of the DGSE by next year.
Pretty disastrous polling results for centrist candidates in France from the riots. Le Penn and Melenchon gaining and Attal, Philippe and Retailleau losing -4.5% in six days.

Way too many developers are using "story mode" to mean "easy mode." Story mode trivializes the difficulty, it doesn't mean letting you take your eye off the ball only a little bit. Yes I did just get to the final boss of Onimusha, how did you know.
