I understand what David meant when he prayed to God to restore the joy of his salvation and for God not to cast His spirit away from Him. If you have ever fallen deep into sin, that prayer will resonate. Without the fire of the Holy Spirit at work in me, life is not worth living.

Preach the gospel to yourself. If you take your eyes of the cross, you may start to think the outcomes of your life are wholly dependent on you.
You may fall into despair in light of the brokenness of this world but God has called you to trust in Him, not in your understanding.
