The nitrogen challenge is not simply about using less. It is about using it better & in the right place. @FAO highlights how integrated approaches across agrifood systems can improve nitrogen use efficiency, reduce environmental impacts & support sustainable livestock production.
How can we better manage #Nitrogen across agrifood systems?
At the 10th International Nitrogen Conference, @FAOLivestock highlights the need to address nitrogen deficits and surpluses, improve nitrogen-use efficiency, and move toward integrated action.

🌍🤝 Connecting Countries, Knowledge and Innovation for a Better Future of Livestock and One Health!
It was a great honour to welcome the Minister of Burkina Faso and the Ambassadors of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso to FAO’s Sustainable Livestock Transformation & One Health Intelligence and Knowledge Hub.
🚀 From Data to Knowledge, From Knowledge to Action!
We showcased SILA – Super Intelligence Livestock Assistant, as FAO’s innovative AI-powered Livestock Agent, designed to transform how countries access, analyse and use livestock data, scientific knowledge and actionable intelligence.
🤖📊 AI is not just about technology. It is about empowering people, connecting knowledge and turning information into real solutions for farmers, livestock producers and communities.
Through the Hub and “SILA“, FAO is strengthening collaboration with its Members, supporting evidence-based decisions, accelerating sustainable livestock transformation and advancing One Health.
🌱🐐🐄 Our ambition is clear: Make knowledge and innovation accessible to all countries, leaving no one behind.
Together, we can transform livestock systems, strengthen resilience and build a healthier, more sustainable future for people, animals and our planet. 🌍💚

🐂🐄🐪🐐🐑🦙🐫🌿 Pastoralists are not only custodians of rangelands; they are key partners in building resilient, sustainable and inclusive agrifood systems!
During #CFS54 at FAO Headquarters, we discussed the vital role of pastoralists, their traditional knowledge, mobility and stewardship in strengthening 🌾 food security, 🐑 animal health and welfare, 🌱 biodiversity and 🌍 climate resilience.
As we celebrate the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026 (#IYRP2026), we must address critical challenges: land tenure and rights, pastoral mobility, and the use of innovation and technology for sustainable rangeland, grazing land and grassland management.
💡 Policy dialogue is important. But turning policies into concrete actions and measurable impacts on the ground is even more important!
🚀 We must move from dialogue to action, from commitments to results, and from policies to real impacts for pastoralists, ranchers, herders, and their communities.
🤝 Let’s walk the talk and deliver results where they matter most: on the ground, in countries and in communities.
