Quick tip, learn to inspect raw requests. With PluginAI you can see the exact prompt and response for each model, then replay with cURL. You will debug token limits, tool calls, and temperature faster than guessing in your app logs.

Just realized model choice is more about fit than raw IQ. For retrieval I liked Claude this week, for code I leaned on GPT 4, for structured outputs Gemini was solid. PluginAI made the swap easy since it is one endpoint and shared prompt templates.

Today, @ekindogus and I are excited to introduce @periodiclabs. Our goal is to create an AI scientist. Science works by conjecturing how the world might be, running experiments, and learning from the results. Intelligence is necessary, but not sufficient. New knowledge is created when ideas are found to be consistent with reality. And so, at Periodic, we are building AI scientists and the autonomous laboratories for them to operate. Until now, scientific AI advances have come from models trained on the internet. But despite its vastness — it’s still finite (estimates are ~10T text tokens where one English word may be 1-2 tokens). And in recent years the best frontier AI models have fully exhausted it. Researchers seek better use of this data, but as any scientist knows: though re-reading a textbook may give new insights, they eventually need to try their idea to see if it holds. Autonomous labs are central to our strategy. They provide huge amounts of high-quality data (each experiment can produce GBs of data!) that exists nowhere else. They generate valuable negative results which are seldom published. But most importantly, they give our AI scientists the tools to act. We’re starting in the physical sciences. Technological progress is limited by our ability to design the physical world. We’re starting here because experiments have high signal-to-noise and are (relatively) fast, physical simulations effectively model many systems, but more broadly, physics is a verifiable environment. AI has progressed fastest in domains with data and verifiable results - for example, in math and code. Here, nature is the RL environment. One of our goals is to discover superconductors that work at higher temperatures than today's materials. Significant advances could help us create next-generation transportation and build power grids with minimal losses. But this is just one example — if we can automate materials design, we have the potential to accelerate Moore’s Law, space travel, and nuclear fusion. We’re also working to deploy our solutions with industry. As an example, we're helping a semiconductor manufacturer that is facing issues with heat dissipation on their chips. We’re training custom agents for their engineers and researchers to make sense of their experimental data in order to iterate faster. Our founding team co-created ChatGPT, DeepMind’s GNoME, OpenAI’s Operator (now Agent), the neural attention mechanism, MatterGen; have scaled autonomous physics labs; and have contributed to some of the most important materials discoveries of the last decade. We’ve come together to scale up and reimagine how science is done. We’re fortunate to be backed by investors who share our vision, including @a16z who led our $300M round, as well as @Felicis, DST Global, NVentures (NVIDIA’s venture capital arm), @Accel and individuals including @JeffBezos , @eladgil , @ericschmidt, and @JeffDean. Their support will help us grow our team, scale our labs, and develop the first generation of AI scientists.

If you are starting with model selection, compare outputs side by side. Use PluginAI to send the same prompt to GPT 4o, Claude, and Gemini without touching your code. The dashboard shows prompts and responses so you can choose the model that fits your task.

New to AI? Try a five minute test. Open PluginAI, paste a paragraph of your writing, ask for line edits. Switch to another model to see a different take. Next step, combine the best edits, then save that prompt as a preset so you can run it again tomorrow.

Time to be a voice convert and not a voice denier
There are 3 kinds of people when it comes to @typelessdotcom: 1️⃣ Voice pros: Already unstoppable 2️⃣ Voice converts: Instantly hooked 3️⃣ Voice deniers: Soon extinct

Growing Heyo to $100 MRR: 102% Slowed down A LOT after launch. I still get new signups every day, and a few of them upgrade I haven't done much marketing for it. What brought traffic to the app was: - Posting new features on X (= not real marketing, even tho it's easily 60% of the traffic) - The "Powered by Heyo" in the free version - Word of mouth (0 control over it = not marketing) - Adding the app to directories (This time I used @CichyKrzysztof service cause I'm lazy lol, but still more a one-time thing than real marketing) Now the issue is that it's not a product suitable for ads (low LTV + commodity product), and I can't really make content about it for SEO etc. So I have no "real" way of marketing it. I made a good product, users love it, but I don't see a path toward "real" growth IMO (I might be wrong tho) The main goal I had when launching it was to learn more about making better products and talking with users. And in this regard, it's a success! I didn't expect it to make any $. Not every product can be a $1,000,000 product, and it's ok Since it still gets traffic and signups everyday, I will mainly focus on improving conversion, onboarding, making a better product, etc. I have another product I'm working on (bigger + growable via ads), so it's nice to have a more "chill" product to go with it!

sora update: cameo and safety improvements inbound! 1. cameo restrictions: we've heard from lots of folks who want to make their cameos available to everyone but retain control over how they're used. starting today, you can now give instructions to sora that restrict the type of gens others can make with your cameo. for example, "don't put me in videos that involve political commentary" or "don't let me say this word." to access it: edit cameo > cameo preferences > restrictions. see @turtlesoupy's tweet for more info. we're continuing to hillclimb on making restrictions even more robust, and we will add new ways for you to stay in control of your cameo in the future. 2. watermark: we are working on some changes to make it clearer and more visible. 3. model safety: we're tweaking our stack to reduce false negatives and catch loopholes. we know overmoderation is super frustrating, and we're working on that too, but we think it's important to be conservative here while the world is still adjusting to this new technology. 4. we fixed the issue where deleting your sora account would require you to delete your chatgpt account. thanks a lot for the feedback, keep it coming! we have tons of new features in development that make use of advanced sora 2 capabilities that we'll talk about later.

My little live chat app is getting used by bigger companies :D
I removed our live chat because it didn't scale Some people got incredible support Others were ignored But only doing things scale often feels mechanical - both for me and the customer So I've introduced a lightweight live chat, Heyo by @nico_jeannen I am going to enable it occasionally so I can connect, chat and support customers in a way that is more human

If you are starting with model selection, run the same prompt across providers. PluginAI lets you choose GPT 4o, Claude, or Gemini from one API, no new client code. You get side by side outputs and you learn which model handles your task best.

Something really clicked after we shipped Libraries. Designers finally feel in control, AI isn’t this black box anymore, it’s a creative tool you can shape with precision. Couldn’t be prouder of this milestone.
I created an E-commerce Design Library using @MagicPathAI. I have never worked on e-commerce before, which made this a perfect challenge. MagicPath, you have my full heart and late nights :). Check it out on @contra - on.contra.com/FfHMcD

Just realized the AMD OpenAI deal is not just chips, it is fewer rate limit headaches for us. I spread traffic across models with PluginAI, so when one API gets slow, the app stays responsive.

How to use AI to improve your writing in 2 minutes:
🚨BREAKING: One prompt = one live site. Before: export code, set up Vercel, wire CI, wait for builds. Now: type a prompt → click Deploy → live site in seconds. Cosine deploys in browser, ships to custom domains. Here's the end of “toy demo” coding:

Tried this thing where I asked three AIs to plan a weekend trip. One nailed the vibe, one nailed the budget, one missed the point. If chip supply really ramps like AMD and OpenAI say, I am hoping prices come down so running three versions is just normal
