It’s HARD being a Black woman in medicine. It’s also extremely hard to explain how to those who aren’t in my shoes.
BUT it’s sooo satisfying to know that my patients will get to see someone in the room they can identify with and know that they aren’t alone.
To the 9 month old who slapped me in the face today in my outpatient Peds rotation, I just want you to know that I didn’t appreciate it. I forgive you tho only because you’re adorable and have developing fine motor skills.
