(1/2) Statistics like this are great news, but they're only a part of a bigger story. What baffles me is that we never see statistics on retention and graduation rates.

2/3Getting in is fantastic; but universities need to do more to make students from all backgrounds feel more included and supported to see them through graduation. This means investment in a wide array of teaching and support services, including mental health and skills training.
