Check out our latest preprint @GoogleQuantumAI pushing the surface code to the next level!
- Below threshold (Λ > 2)
- Distance-7 logical qubit, 0.0014 error per cycle, >2x better than physical qubits
- Explore 10^-10 error regime with repetition codes

🔔New IceCube results to be published in @ScienceMag tomorrow!
For the first time, IceCube found evidence of high-energy neutrino emission from NGC 1068, an active galaxy in the constellation Cetus and one of the most familiar and well-studied galaxies. #IceCubeNGC1068
My thesis research was submitted!
🔔📜IceCube paper submitted to ApJ!
We looked for lower-energy events in the direction of the high-energy alert events and searched in different time scales.
We constrained the abundance of astrophysical neutrino sources in the universe.
Story ➡️icecube.wisc.edu/news/resear…

ALT Map of high-energy neutrino candidates (“alert events”) detected by IceCube. The map is in celestial coordinates, with the Galactic plane indicated by a line and the Galactic center by a dot. Two contours are shown for each event, for 50% and 90% confidence in the localization on the sky. The color scale shows the “signalness” of each event, which quantifies the likelihood that each event is an astrophysical neutrino rather than a background event from Earth’s atmosphere.

Thank you so much to everyone for the outpouring of love and support!
I wanted to share the most important page of my dissertation:
Less than 24 hours until my defense!!
There will be a zoom option, feel free to DM if you're dying to hear about cosmic neutrino sources 😅
🎓🥳 Thesis defense announcement: Tomorrow at 2pm CT, Alex Pizzuto (@ajpizzuto) presents "Hunting for cosmic neutrino sources from Giga- to Exa-electronvolt with IceCube" in Sterling Hall. physics.wisc.edu/events/?id=…
After applying to jobs for the last four months and preparing for my thesis defense, I’m excited to announce:
I am very tired and would like a nap
