Nice one, Google.
Today on the blog, we present a new system, published in Nature, that leverages standard consumer smartwatch sensors to passively detect signs of high blood pressure — validated against the clinical gold standard of 24-hour ambulatory bp monitoring. More →goo.gle/4zw2ISD

ALT The AI system uses photoplethysmography (PPG) and accelerometer (ACC) signals recorded using a consumer smartwatch to create waveform embeddings. The waveform embeddings are aggregated over time (days) into a person-level embedding, which, along with a user’s height, are used to predict their blood pressure status.

On @Reuters article below 👇, don’t spend too much time wondering why the cost of living of Lebanese people continues to deteriorate, and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future as risk of war heightens further.
There is one main reason behind the double digit $ inflation that is sweeping through people’s lives and livelihood:
Inflation in #Lebanon is the cost of delayed restructuring 👇(see article below) . Everything else is a corollary to it.
substack.com/@thealiamoub/no…
When the central bank is insolvent and the treasury is in default, the President, PM, government and the mighty Lord, can’t do much about inflation at > 17%, unless they restore the capacity of the State to use monetary and fiscal policy to protect society.
Time to tell the Lebanese the truth & move ahead with an equitable restructuring that ensures accountability and builds a solid base for recovery. In the new Middle East, no one cares about bailing out Lebanon’s rotten state and those who capture it; not in war times nor in peace times.

Given today's cybersecurity landscape, and where things are headed... it would be prudent to back up all critical data to secure, long-term storage to prevent potential data loss and to maintain availability for future recovery if/when needed.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Professor Adnan Al-Alaoui.
Professor Al-Alaoui devoted more than 20 years of his life to the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, including three years of dedicated service as Department Chair. Throughout his distinguished career, he made lasting contributions to our academic community and to the education of generations of engineering students.
His legacy will live on through the many students he taught. May he rest in peace.

It's pencils down, people. Writing code by hand is no longer an economically viable skill for most programmers at most companies. But the future of making software has never been brighter. Don't you dare black pill this beautiful moment! youtu.be/vDjW_dRyKXY?si=6Fsf…
A government minister who was once an elite star in management consulting is now struggling in government, with quitting reportedly on the table...
Are the consulting firms worried that his performance in government is damaging the industry’s reputation in the region?
