Wigan Athletic is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sir Billy Boston.
A true sporting icon and proud advocate for everything our town stands for, Sir Billy leaves behind an extraordinary legacy both on and off the field.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, all at Wigan Warriors and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him at this incredibly difficult time.
Rest in peace, Sir Billy. 💙

To celebrate our “Meet the New Manager” this afternoon at 2.20pm in the South Stand Bar we’ve got a last minute chance to enjoy hospitality for 2 people in the Tomaco Lounge for today’s game!
To enter simply repost this message! The winner will be announced at 10.30am #wafc
Last nights performance was like night vs day compared to what we’ve had to put up with all season. As my lad said ‘it’s nice to come away from the ground smiling.’ It was great to see a manager not making it all about him. The standard has been set now #wafc

Billy Boston is a true trailblazer who has contributed hugely to rugby league.
It’s a historic wrong that a sport which is the backbone of many communities has waited so long to receive this honour.
Boston is a legend of the game who overcame prejudice to represent Great Britain and opened the door to a more diverse game.
He has left a truly enduring legacy. The first knighthood in rugby league could not go to a more deserving player.

Following on from the recent media coverage,I have sent this email to MP Lisa Nandy today, to ask her to review our campaign. It would mean so much to me and my family, and to the people of Golborne and Wigan if we can make this dream a reality. @lisanandy @BBCNews @WiganCouncil

Straight after the match Xintong went to Ronnie’s dressing room. He thanked him for his help and support, without which he wouldn’t have got to the final so quickly.
