Vukovar surrendered exactly 30 years ago today. Still the killings and war crimes continued. My photo of Croatian National Guard defending the road out of town (Sept. 1991). International and media interest in what was happening to Vukovar at the time was pitiful.

Next month sees the 48th anniversary of the Jonestown Massacre, when 900 died in a mass suicide-murder. Like members of the People’s Temple, I fear we’re rapidly losing our collective reason to tribal hysteria & cultish behaviour. Love to see somebody write a good piece on this.

My late son, Daniel, is not a direct victim of 9/11, yet he was murdered by Khalid Sheik Mohammad (KSM), the 9/11 architect. I wish I could join the petition to bar Mayor Mamdani from the memorial -- his anti-American ideology differs little from that of KSM's.

Josh Simons told voters he quit as MP for his family. Instead, he traded his public mandate for a top Downing Street job under Andy Burnham. This is Misconduct in Public Office by any definition. A parliamentary seat is not personal currency. It is a corrupt, brutal stitch-up.

Having designed & run some (media) projects on Iran - and been there- I’m amazed at sudden experts treating the war as a 90 minute football game - (& too many rooting for the other side). The only thing for sure is the Regime will bleed out - IF unpalatable amnesties are offered.

Chinese property is literally collapsing. Developers are demolishing half-built blocks they can't afford to finish, people who've bought off-plan are defaulting on mortgages, sales are grinding to a halt, the whole financial system is at risk. Couldn't happen to a nicer autocracy

Vandaag 30 jr geleden viel de Oost-Kroatische stad Vukovar na een ruim 80 dagen durende aanval door het Joegoslavische leger (JNA) en Servische milities. Dit mooie stadje a/d Donau werd in 1991 totaal vernield door de aanvallers. Deze beelden wennen nooit.
