The M6 #IMDBON @MarineInst data buoy was successfully swapped out on the #CE25007 survey. This buoy will be out for 1 year providing essential data for @MetEireann along with 3 subsurface CTD microCATs to 750m depth for #oceanops

We’re enjoying the rare days of sunshine on deck during the #CE25007 survey and gave a short intro to @MarineInst M6 #IMDBON buoy to 3 students on board. Doreen will use data from M6 & South Rockall Mooring for her MSc project
Zdenek, our technician, shows them the CTD in hull.
Great piece from @Cloughlinvt promoting #WomenInScience and the work she does with the @Eir_OOS ocean observing platforms 👏👏
🎉Today we celebrate #WomenInScience and the incredible contributions our female scientists make to marine science.

Over 12 hours, #StormEowyn left visible damage and destruction. Thanks to the Irish Marine Data Buoy Observation Network we can see what it was like out on the open seas. M4 off the coast of Donegal waves of 18.75m, with M3 off the SW waves of 15.98m bit.ly/4jvxcfS

Tide gauge data shows a very significant surge, hope there is not too much damage for you guys. Looking at preliminary data from our wave buoys we have just had record breaking wave heights in Galway Bay also!

❗️❗️Buoy M6 off west coast of Ireland just recorded 78kt gusting winds. That's ~145km/h 😱❗️❗️
Watching #StormEowyn data 🫣
The @MarineInst @Eir_OOS M6 met-ocean buoy 400km out in the Atlantic recording major drop in air pressure in past few hours. Heading down to 940mb !!!
The wind speed measurements in the ocean come from the @Eir_OOS Irish Ocean Observing System.
🌬 95km/h off Cork at M3 buoy.
