#strictly I agree with Craig, that wasn’t the best Rumba. They definitely lacked some connection.

#strictly Clearly, the judges see something different IRL. I thought those lifts weren’t great at all.

Shameful framing from @SkyNews. Why compare 180,000 armed forces personnel with 430,000 young people claiming PIP? PIP isn’t unemployment benefit. Disability isn’t a choice. Disabled young people aren’t responsible for Britain’s defence budget. Stop portraying them as a burden

I found this photo of president Zelenskyy incredibly sad. Never has a man tried harder to save his people and his country. He will go down in history as one of the worlds greatest leaders.

The tabloids have invented this alternate-universe Britain where you phone the DWP, tell them you’ve got a peanut allergy or a sore finger, and suddenly they’re paying your rent and buying you a free car - and somehow, people believe that’s how it actually works.

So whose giving these young people with autism, adhd and depression a job? A job that will be flexible and understanding to their needs? Why don't you do an investigation into that @thetimes.
EXCL: More than 120,000 teenagers with autism, ADHD and depression are claiming disability benefits at a cost to the taxpayer of more than £1bn a year The £1bn welfare bill is more than enough to pay for at least six counselling sessions for each of the 442,000 children waiting to be seen by NHS mental health services Data obtained by the inquiry shows 127,600 teenagers aged 16 to 19 claimed personal independence payments for these conditions in the past year. The average payment is £169 a week, or £8,800 a year, but payments can be worth up to £194 a week, or £10,119 a year Ministers are concerned the welfare bill is rising in part due to the NHS’s inability to keep pace with the mental health caseload, within a system that gives cash without any obligation for the state to provide — or the claimant to accept — the necessary support One former DWP minister said this was “one of many problems” with the welfare system, adding: “These kids want help, but they are getting cash instead. The money we’re spending could actually get them the treatment they need, and do so quickly. But we can’t say what they should spend it on, the DWP doesn’t provide therapy and the NHS can’t fast-track welfare claimants. So these young people are falling down a gap in the system.” Day 2 of @thetimes Welfare Inquiry with @MillieBrigaud 📰

Okay, I'm breaking character here. This is not a satire post. My 2-year-old son is in a wheelchair that we can't fit into our car. We are not eligible to apply for a wheelchair accessible vehicle until he is three--and even then we would have to pay about £13,000 towards it (which we don't have). The idea that disabled people get given free cars willy-nilly is bullshit. My son has to attend regular appointments at various locations. He has a team of specialists dedicated to helping him with an extremely rare neurological condition that means he needs around the clock supervision. He can't even hold his own head up so a regular car seat is out of the question. He was using a baby seat, but he's outgrown that. It's really tough for us to get around because misinformation from pricks like Nigel influences public opinion. Does this seem right?

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty
