Good news for #bced. The #bcpoli government will not be moving forward with the problematic prevalence model. Thanks to all the teachers who worked so hard to convince government that prevalence was the wrong approach to funding special education. More info/comment to come.
New #bced funding model means, for the first time, children and youth in care will be recognized through a new supplement that also supports more children with mental health challenges and kids living in poverty. news.gov.bc.ca/21553 @KatrineConroy @BCSTA_News @BCCPAC @RCYBC

The #BCteachershortage is unprecedented. In #PrinceGeorge there are 13 full-time teaching job which remain unfilled half way through the school year. 16 more to come. With BC's low wages, districts struggle to recruit from other provinces. #bced #bcpoli princegeorgecitizen.com/news…

As #BCTeacherShortage continues to worsen, #bced children with special needs are being sent home when there are no teachers to support them. In addition, there are an unprecedented number of uncertified and unqualified adults currently teaching in schools. New #bcpoli radio ad:

Favourite gif to describe when #bced employer and #bcpoli @BCNDPCaucus government tabled massive concessions to roll back class size and composition with nothing more than 2/2/2 to show for it. Go!

Rob Fleming addressing the 2017 BCTF Fall Rep Assembly:
"It’s time for a new relationship between teacher and government. BCPSEA can either get with the program or get off the bus. In Alberta, the ATA reached a settlement without a strike. In B.C., we can do the same."

Would make a fantastic 1st day activity? Why does this happen? I have seen this before but the lollipop increases the impact of the demo, incorporating something students are so familiar with (a lollipop), & something they are not (potassium permanganate & NaOH). Gosh I ❤️ this!
Why not add sodium hydroxide (caustic soda or lye) and sugar to potassium permanganate?
Here's a demonstration with a lollipop for the sugar.

Great job by the TDSB who revised its dress code and created a good example of what a 2019 dress code looks like. cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/t…
