From our game industry family to yours happy holidays from the Dickens Fair!
Grateful to be surrounded by such brilliant, kind, creative people.
Sometimes the game industry feels chaotic and uncertain but moments like this remind me how much community matters.
Sending some joy to all my fellow devs, creators, and friends this season. 🎄

With all the layoffs happening, please try to avoid using passive language like “X was affected in the layoffs.” This is the sort of language that corporations want you to use because it absolves them of responsibility.
People weren’t “affected.” The company LAID THEM OFF.

Holstin, to use @alivetinyworld's words, blew her away. I played a bit of the preview build myself & concur that this pixel-art survival game that really cleverly plays with camera perspectives could be very special.

We still, after 5 years since the release of Sea of Solitude get fan mail of people that say the game changed their life. Therapists use the game for their lectures. More then i could have ever hoped for!! 🥰 This is a little gem of a recent post, i hope it‘s okay i share. – at Berkeley, CA

In hindsight, perhaps we shouldn’t have played @randyzero’s preview copy perilously close to the noodles.

Preparing for GDC with Katie, tip #6: Upload a new Twitter profile pic so people can recognise you in the halls! Choose a photo in which you're wearing sunglasses or mid-sip in a can of beer that's obscuring your face so that people can not, in fact, recognise you.

Preparing for GDC with Katie, tip #5: Remember that guy who said to wear a memorable hat? It's so true! If you wear that ratty hat with the weird horns attached to it during every second of GDC, you will look as though you never wash your clothes (or yourself). Very memorable.

Preparing for GDC with Katie, tip #3: Don't bother talking to women at GDC. Oh no - did someone tell you that a specific lady was actually Worth Networking With? Then you should totally go and butter her up! Don't worry, she won't remember that you completely ignored her earlier.

Preparing for GDC with Katie, tip #2: Be sure to tell the entirety of Twitter to "come up and say hi if you see me!" while also reminding them that, if you have met before, you will likely not remember their name or face. It's hard committing names to memory when you're popular!

Preparing for GDC with Katie, tip #1: Make a BFD about how BUSY you are and how you're so sorry you haven't replied to emails from people hoping to meet with you because your schedule is JUST SO FULL already. This is how others will know that you're a Person Worth Knowing.
