Welcome to the 2026-2027 Seminar Series! We are pleased to host researchers from institutions across the world, including @Stanford, @tcddublin, @harvardmed, and more > bit.ly/4waU5ue
2nd Wednesdays @ 2PM ET | Schermerhorn Hall 603 & Zoom
Replying to @allardlab
Many reactions in cells are tethered, often by #IDR. If 2 tethers are tied together (imagine handcuffed arms ⛓️), does this enhance or suppress their reactions? Formin, one of the major #cytoskeleton builders in eukaryotes, does exactly this.
Brady's work is published this week in Biophysical Journal! Mathematical link between cell mechanics and percolation theory

Review article with Omer Dushek @Dushek on tethered signaling proteins, out now! Tethered bio-molecular reactions can do at least 7 cool things that freely-diffusing reactions do not. Read more here! #IDR #TCells #cytoskeleton

Katie Bogue's new preprint with Margot Quinlan and Bryan Christian, out now!

Very excited to be involved in this new work led by Junhao Gu and Elizabeth Read, out this week in Bioinformatics. Collaboration with @timothy_lamont, @ChrisEMiles and others!

We can make the flexibility of a model match the hypothesis being tested -- more flexibility is not always better, if it prohibits rejection of the hypothesis. Here is one simple case involving T cells where it made a difference!

Our paper with with @timothy_lamont and @ASpakowitz is out in Nucleic Acids Research! academic.oup.com/nar/article…
Brady's preprint on astral cytoskeletal structures is on biorxiv! A surprising connection between percolation and asters, and another example where an optimal choice aligns with the cell! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Jack's preprint with @timothy_lamont and @ASpakowitz is out on biorxiv! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Small changes in nucleosome placement -- even at approximately the same average frequency, even ~100kbp from the loci -- can drive contacts between TF binding motifs and gene promoters.
Group dinner, including our colleague Jin Yu, some alumni, and two years' worth of amazing @UCI_CMCF high school researchers!
We generate a song for every group meeting now.
We are very pleased to announce that our colleagues @allardlab have kindly produced a fantastic summary of our EMBO Journal manuscript in the form of AI-generated Korean Pop!
