he does so much for others, but refuses to take care of himself. That selflessness is not typical… and is actively harming the detective. It seems he won’t realize that until anyone tells him! So this is another part of the Doorman’s services, taking Abrams’ burdens away.

I don’t know. ending up in a lavish room that the Doorman promises can be his if he lets himself be taken care of. The world is so horribly painful and scary, why doesn’t the detective rest for awhile? the Doorman rubs his back and coos at him while Abe hiccups
