!!! LONG POST ALERT AGAIN!!! Why Alphastarter Matter? Today, we launched the alpha version of the @alpha_starter fundraising page and unveiled the two games we’ll be raising funds for; Immortal Rising 2 by Planetarium Labs and Supervillain Labs’ MMORPG ‘Project Ark’ 👉 alphastarter.io/. I wanted to take a moment to share why Alphastarter is important and what it brings to the table. For Game Developers TLDR: Alphastarter helps game developers solve the challenges of funding and building a strong community in the early stages. As briefly mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been publishing Web2 games for the past 15 years from both AAA to indie titles, having the privilege of reviewing thousands of games and working with hundreds of developers. But as much as I wanted to support every game, I had to be selective. Over the past five years, I shifted my focus to indie games and was fortunate to publish some exceptional titles that achieved remarkable success. Throughout this journey, I met with hundreds of game studios and noticed two key challenges most of them faced: securing funding and building a strong early community. When I transitioned to Web3, I realized these same challenges were just as prevalent in Web3 game studios. That’s why I decided to launch Alphastarter, a Web3 game crowdfunding platform designed to tackle these issues and empower game developers. For Investors TLDR: Alphastarter provides the community & retail investors: 1) Opportunity to invest into games at early developmental stages. 2) A chance to participate in the game development process. 3) Immediate liquidity for their investments. There are already several IDO platforms in the Web3 space. To put it simply, they typically focus on marketing during the final stage before the Token Generation Event (TGE) and distribute game tokens to investors in exchange for their support at the time of TGE. However, I believe this approach isn’t well-suited for gaming funding. Game studios often need financial backing at the early stages of development, which is where many struggle. While Alphastarter will also facilitate later-stage funding like traditional IDOs, its core focus is on supporting early-stage funding for game developers. One of the most fascinating aspects of early-stage game investing is that the quality of a game doesn't improve linearly—it often accelerates exponentially at a certain point. At Alphastarter, we take this into account when offering the fundraising opportunity. Instead of rewarding early backers with game tokens, we issue NFTs. This offers two key benefits for investors. 1) It provides liquidity from day one - Investors can choose to wait until the exit (which could be game tokens or another asset) or exit on their own terms. 2) Transforms investors from passive supporters to active participants in the development process - NFT holders will form a DAO, enabling them to assess the developer’s milestones and decide whether to distribute the funds to the developer or retrieve their invested funds. Of course, early-stage investments, especially in gaming, come with inherent risks due to the many variables involved. That said, I don’t intend to persuade the community to invest. Instead, I’ll focus on leveraging my industry experience to identify and support solid, promising projects to provide better opportunities for the community.
