Built a simple vacuum areas card to solve a real problem and boost WAF. My wife refused to use the native app, she just wanted to tap the rooms she wanted cleaned and see live maps of both vacuums. So that’s exactly what this card does.

Home assistant 13 years old!
🎂 Happy birthday to us!
Home Assistant is officially a teenager. 13 years old today 🥳🏠
Here’s to the teenage years! 🎉
Made HASS Connect because apparently my doorbell also needed to interrupt my PC.
Windows 11 sensors + notifications for Home Assistant. No MQTT.
Early release. Bugs probably included.

Nest Protect loudly announcing "Nest Protect will expire soon" four times in a row, at almost midnight, every single evening, is a whole new kind of hell. It doesn’t even expire until November, and there’s no way to disable the announcement, even in the app.
Built a Home Assistant intercom camera card because apparently doorbells now need dashboards.
WebRTC via go2rtc, browser mic talkback, stream switcher, and buttons for gates, lights, sounds & TTS.

Made a tiny Home Assistant custom integration: Hikvision door stations/cameras with ISAPI talkback now become media_player targets.
Useful for chimes, alerts, and short announcements. Because apparently the doorbell wanted Spotify.

I’ve pushed a big update to the CasaTunes @home_assistant custom component.
I’m hoping to move away from CasaTunes in the coming year, but for now I’m keeping it alive in case anyone else still needs it:

I just got new pillows from @FrameworkPuter
Very bad timing, unfortunately. I've ordered a replacement but it will take at least a week.
I'm on my way to the @home_assistant community meetup in London! Looking forward to meeting new people who like automating their hallway lights.
I got so tired of parcels being thrown over the gate that I ordered a sign to stop it.
It was delivered today.
Naturally, it was thrown over the gate.
All of a sudden, @home_assistant began remembering the selected default dashboard per user rather than per device. I can't say I like the change.
I remember insisting on proper ducting from the street straight into the house back in 2014. Everyone thought I was being dramatic. Fast forward to today, Openreach turns up and installs FTTP in two hours. Turns out long term planning is just smugness with a delay.
I am a responsible adult who does not waste money on pointless things. Which is why I just bought a Motorola Advisor pager on eBay simply because it is the most iconic piece of obsolete tech ever made.
Here is my take on a Battery Low sensor for @home_assistant It checks every entity with a battery device class and can skip those that have a special label. ⚡️🔋
Just did my first ever trick or treat with my 6 year old daughter. I was dressed all in black with a beard and a shaved head. Could not resist saying in a strong slavic accent “You better give her more candy.” The parents laughed nervously but complied!
I've upgraded all of my home switches and WiFi APs to @TPLINK Omada. It all ended up costing 1/4 of what Ubiquity would have costed and has been working rock-solid for the past month!
Down with Covid, too much time, no sense, so I hacked together a player that pulls full cyberpunk shorts right from the database and plays them on the site. Works as a PWA too: cyberpunkhub.com/player
