Down by the River Thames, a failure to build holds back Britain's growth reuters.com/world/uk/down-by… @Reuters
Looking forward to Andy Burnham on Gogglebox tonight but as I said to @_RyanTubridy on @TimesRadio I can’t believe he genuinely has such a wide selection of crisps in Downing St. Skips, Twiglets, pork scratching AND bacon fries? That’s too many crisps Andy
Well here’s an incredible fact for the day we turn back time. This naval gun, being straddled by Cher in the video to If I Could Turn Back Time, is the same naval gun also pictured here, as the Japanese sign the declaration of unconditional surrender, formally ending WW2.
Love Andy Haldane’s economics mean girl era. He says a ‘critical friend’ of the government then says stuff like this 💅
Andy Haldane: Burnham has it in him to be a great prime minister

Labour's only idea for education is that kids should talk nice
Paul Nuttall is running the vetting for Reform candidates? The same Paul Nuttall who, as UKIP leader, claimed to have lost friends at Hillborough, played for Tranmere Rovers, had a PHD and lived at a fake address? Ok

Zadie Smith, Ben Lerner, Tessa Hadley - some brilliant writers on this list. Proof that being a great artist doesn't stop you being a political idiot
OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.
This is what you get with the Greens.
Not just vile antisemitism but actively harmful economic policies that repel investment and hasten London's decline.
300 affordable homes that were ready to go, now ditched because the Greens said that wasn't enough
Landsec has pulled out of its £1.5bn investment in Lewisham shopping centre, citing Mayor @LiamShrivastava's Green administration's lack of support.
300+ affordable homes, jobs, a park and a music venue: gone.
Our Group Leader @Ese_Journo has written to the Mayor 👇
I got so cross about this I expanded on it for @CityAM
It's no surprise that a party so impervious to logic and evidence also finds itself susceptible to the oldest hatred

Blocking Heathrow’s expansion is making Britain poorer – @alysdenby writes that Heathrow is the UK’s most valuable port: a quarter of UK trade passed through it in 2025.

I asked Google "Who has written articles for The Spectator?" and got this list.
Alys is such a fucking nobody that she doesn't even appear in this list.
Still, I'm sure there are people who will enjoy her piece, notably her close family who will enjoy it out of sympathy.

One of the unforeseen pleasures of the furore is the parade of leathery old harridans and desperate @JuliaHB1 wannabes like @alysdenby wheeled out to dis Sally Rooney.
