Mohamed Alabbar chairs Zand Bank in Dubai. Talha Alhashimi sits on its board. They have shared that boardroom since 2022.
Alabbar's company, Eagle Hills, signed for Ras Malé on 21 September. Talha's company, BluRock, holds Dhigufaru lagoon in Noonu. Leased for 99 years under Solih, no tender.
BluRock took it over in 2024, after funding Muizzu's 2023 campaign. Muizzu then made it an SEZ: 5% tax for 10 years, offshore banks allowed.
Who owns BluRock? Nobody will say. Who owns Eagle Hills? Nobody will say.
This is how our islands go. Men with hidden owners fund the campaign. The winner hands them a lagoon, 99 years at a time, and reads their press release to us as if it were his own plan. A donation, then an island.
What do you call that?
Muizzu is not negotiating for the Maldives. He is their salesman. And the opposition is quiet because they did the first lease themselves. MDP leased the lagoon. PNC turned it into a tax haven.

رئيس المالديف سابقاً "محمد جميل أحمد" يفضح رجل الأعمال الإماراتي "محمد العبار"، ويعطيه درساً في مسألة الأمن القومي والتركيبة الوطنية والمبادئ الدينية.
القصة، أن العبار دخل في مشاريع عقارية في المالديف وهدفه تمرير دخول وتملك جنسيات أجنبية على الأراضي المالديفية من خلال بوابة الاستثمار، وكانت شروط الحكومة المالديفية أن الأرض والعقار تبقى ملكيتها للدولة ولا يُسمح بإدخال اي جنسية فيها إلا بموافقة الحكومة ومن ضمن الجنسيات "الصهاينة".

This person is getting airtime on MMTV (allegedly with no ties to the name Mohamed Muizzu) and promoting colonialism under the guise of foreign investment.
This is the mindset he, Mohamed Nasheed, and Mohamed Muizzu want to instil in Dhivehin (especially those who don’t think critically and take everything at face value).
He claims that a British military base is a foreign investment. Just like Muizzu thinks US military bases in the Middle East are foreign investments that create jobs. That’s how deeply colonised these people’s minds are.

إن الأساليب التي يستخدمها محمد العبار وشركة "إيغل هيلز" (Eagle Hills) للتأثير على الرأي العام بشأن مشروع "راس مالي" (Ras Malé) تبدو مألوفة للغاية.
يا سيد محمد العبار (@mohamed_alabbar)، لطالما كانت جزر المالديف أمةً مسلمةً منذ قرون. فإيماننا وسيادتنا وهويتنا الوطنية ليست للبيع.
قد تظن أن المال قادر على شراء النفوذ لدى إدارة الرئيس محمد مويزو (@MMuizzu)، لكن لا تخلط بين استعداد الحكومة لاحتضان طموحاتك وبين موافقة الشعب المالديفي.
لن نسمح أبداً بأن تتعرض وحدتنا الدينية، أو أمننا القومي، أو سيادتنا للخطر بسبب مصالح أجنبية.
نحن نكنّ احتراماً عميقاً لدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، وشعبها، وقيادتها؛ لكن هذا الاحترام يجب أن يكون متبادلاً. فلا تستهينوا بصمودنا وعزيمتنا في الدفاع عن أمتنا.

المالديف توجه رسالة لاذعة الى #الامارات
من حق شعب المالديف أن يرفض أي مشاريع أو تدخلات يراها تهديدًا لهويته الدينية وسيادته الوطنية.
لا يحق لأي مستثمر، مهما بلغت ثروته ونفوذه، أن يتعامل مع إرادة الشعوب وكأنها سلعة قابلة للشراء.
الاستثمارات الأجنبية يجب أن تحترم سيادة الدول وقيم مجتمعاتها، لا أن تتحول إلى وسيلة لفرض النفوذ.
المال لا يمنح أحدًا حق تجاوز إرادة الشعوب، وكرامة الأوطان ليست للبيع.
كل التضامن مع شعب المالديف في الدفاع عن هويته وسيادته واستقلال قراره.
فتح نائب رئيس المالديف السابق، محمد جميل أحمد، النار على رجل الأعمال الإماراتي محمد العبار وشركة «إيجل هيلز»، منتقدًا ما وصفه بمحاولات التأثير على الرأي العام في بلاده تحت غطاء الاستثمار.
وقال جميل، في رسالة وجهها إلى العبار، إن إيمان المالديفيين وسيادتهم وهويتهم الوطنية ليست للبيع، محذرًا من أن الأموال والاستثمارات لا تمنح أصحابها حق التأثير على القرار السياسي أو تجاوز إرادة الشعب.
وأضاف أن بلاده تحترم #الإمارات وشعبها وقيادتها، لكن هذا الاحترام يجب أن يكون متبادلًا، مؤكدًا رفض تعريض الوحدة الدينية والأمن القومي والسيادة الوطنية للمصالح الأجنبية.
